We have sown our pollinator friendly mix at Brookside. Many thanks to Barry, Helen, Hilary and Clare for their hard work. We were hoping it was just going to be a matter of sprinkling seeds but there were quite a lot of weeds to remove first.

Grey Herons are in decline. It’s important we know where they breed. We know of only 5 heronries in our region. Are there others out there we don’t know about? This spring, when you’re out birding, please keep an eye out for heronries and message us if you find one. Thanks 🙏
Known heronries in Eastern Glamorgan: Coryton wood, Mydnydd Gelliwion near Trehafod, Darran near Merthyr Vale, Merthyr Mawr Sawmill, Ogmore Vale

🦇 Start thinking about how you can turn your garden into a bat haven, so it's ready for bats when they start waking up in spring! After months of hibernation they will need all the food they can get. Find out more here: buff.ly/2HkKSuq

Try to leave deadwood in your garden as much as possible. It’s a valuable habitat for fungi, invertebrates and more.

A single 400-year-old ancient oak produces 234,000 litres of oxygen a year while soaking up carbon dioxide, and can support more than 2,000 species of bird, insect, fungus, and lichen. Nature is amazing - we need more of it, not less. Please repost if you agree 🌳
