On Indonesia’s Seram Island, the Huaulu Indigenous community is adapting a centuries-old coming-of-age ritual to protect the endangered salmon-crested cockatoo. Instead of hunting birds for ceremonial feathers, they now use naturally shed ones from rescue centers. @basten.bsky.social reports.
