Anyone ever seen a pinker Vestal?! 🩷 Found this tiny stunner in the Amberley Bottoms. #rhodometrasacraria #sussexmoths #ukmoths #teammoth #mothsmatter #bugsky @migrantmothuk.bsky.social

Tiny, bright pink moth with a triangle dusted with cream, sitting in grass.

It does look absolutely spot on for Crescent Dart to me, but funny location and time of year. Could it have blown in from the CI?

Yes fair enough it’s not fully reliable, but pretty good on fresh specimens. That’s interesting that your recorder won’t accept any such records. Thank you!

Found this gorgeous custard-with-a-hint-of-rhubarb Clouded Yellow roosting on a matching Dewberry leaf late yesterday afternoon when checking out a fantastic chalkland site on the Wiston Estate @southdownsnp.bsky.social with their lovely ecologist @sussexemerald.bsky.social #ukbutterflies

A yellow butterfly with pink legs, antennae and wing-edges rests on an autumnal yellow and pink leaf with its wings closed.

Oh ❤️❤️❤️ C. femoratus larvae are actually my favourite creature in the whole world but these will do! Especially the C. luteus - always wanted to see one but never have. 💛

Thrilled to see this rare, gloriously grass-green, chonky, armour-plated Wart-biter 💚 found by the lovely @aliceparfitt.bsky.social on a prelim survey for them for Buglife at their stronghold @southdownsnp.bsky.social 📷 under licence (& not that close!) #decticusverrucivorus #bushcricket #bugsky

OMG this is one of the most exciting caterpillars I’ve ever found! 🤪 An unusual pale form of Striped Hawk-moth caterpillar! Together with a photo of an adult I trapped last summer. Both Steyning, West Sussex. #hyleslivornica #teammoth #mothsmatter #ukmoths #bugsky @migrantmothuk.bsky.social

A huge yellow caterpillar with two broad black dorsal bands and a pink head and tail-spike, walking across a stony track.

A very large olive-green moth with several white stripes on its body and wings, sitting on my fingers. In the background is the white sheet I place under my moth trap.

What a wonderful day, reminiscent of @patrickbarkham.bsky.social ‘s ‘Butterfly Isles’, finding this very rare migrant Queen of Spain Fritillary with the legendary Neil Hulme, thanks to a tip-off from the lovely Patrick Moore. 📷 Amberley Downs #issorialathonia #ukbutterflies #bugsky

A pristine golden butterfly with black spots sitting on vegetated ground with its wings spread open.

One of Britain’s most awesome predators is out and about💥🥳 (rather early in the year 😬). This magnificent Hornet Robberfly has impaled a fly on his impressive piercing mouthparts. 📷 Amberley Downs #asiluscrabroniformis #bugsky #ukflies @uk-soldierflies.bsky.social @dipteristsforum.bsky.social

A very large, brown, bristly fly with a yellow lower abdomen, sitting on grass, with a black fly impaled on its large piercing mouthparts.

It’s amazing how the green markings on the underside of an Orange-tip’s wings are actually an optical illusion created by a mixture of yellow and black scales 🖤💛💚💛🖤 This lovely lady was roosting near my house on Cuckoo Flower (Cardamine pratensis), their caterpillar foodplant. #ukbutterflies #bugsky

A female Orange-tip butterfly roosting on pale pink Cuckoo Flower with her wings closed, exposing the patchy green-looking camouflage markings on the underside of the white hindwing. On close inspection, the green is actually made up of a combination of yellow and black scales.

What I see when walking through the woods vs what my husband sees 😬 #romanticwalkwithanecologist #woodlandplants #wildflowerhour

A white Wood Anemone stands out against a background of a patch of white Wood Anemones.

A lady (me!) on the ground with her bum in the air, photographing a patch of white Wood Anemones, with a sea of Bluebells in the background.
