Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 10/10/2026My thought was that it would be blue and grant an extra combat step each turn. They've been talking about using extra combats in lieu of extra turns to represent time magic. And stone color doesn't map cleanly to MTG color. 000
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 09/10/2026What is this "get down to X decks" concept you speak of? I'll probably have 45 by year-end. 110
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Ovika has been my spellslinger Commander for several years now, I really enjoy the deck. 110
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Okvika is overall just a really baller card, as long as you can get it out. It's really easy to cast it into immediately several "free" spells like Gush and Submerge to generate a ton of tokens. I also really like doing mass-copy effects because the Haste is granted, not innate to the token. 110
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Nah. We're way worse off. President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho was wiling to recognize that there were problems and that he could not personally solve them, and so he sought the help of the most qualified man in the country. Can you imagine anyone in the current regime doing that? 010
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Apart from the 4c combos, which I have no real interest in building, the only color combos I don't have are pure colorless and GWU. Neither has a commander that has really inspired me to build it. The combo I have the most of is RB with 4 lists, followed by BUG and GU with 3 each. 010
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 07/10/2026This could be something? I feel like whatever you're doing is weaker than just Cauldroning a Lemures onto Loot though. 000
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Unfortunately just impeaching in the House doesn't accomplish anything as long as Republicans in the Senate are willing to circle the wagons and dismiss again. In order to get the supermajority to convict, Dems would need to win all but 2 of the seats in play which is vanishingly unlikely. 010
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 07/10/2026You can make a legal and playable* Magic deck using exclusively cards with no text. Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Is Sefris popular enough to have a stock build? I've never seen anyone else play it. I am relatively certain nobody else's Sefris list was like mine as I've never seen anyone else run Dreams of the Dead. (This has since become my Hashaton list) 100
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Manapool should send a replacement order at no cost to you - that's what they've done for me on any occasion where something was missing or incorrect. 220
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 25/09/2026"I don't want them to go to the dump, so please bury them alive" 110
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Okay yeah that's shitty then. They should probably have some kind of minimum number of new cards in the deck to enter that queue then. 110
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 24/09/2026I definitely agree that that seems not in the spirit of the queue, and I'd rather play something new and different. However, I do see *some* merit to running known decks in that queue if the intent is "testing". You can test how new cards do against the field and how established decks need to adapt 100
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 24/09/2026They *could* except for the fact that they explicitly promised never to do that and apparently they consider that totally binding. 010
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 23/09/2026Just under $10 for the cheapest versions. In its heyday it was maybe $40. 120
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Dim20 is best if you have a lot of time to kill. Like when my newborn wouldn't sleep except on someone and it's not safe for that someone to fall asleep so they binge TV. I've watched a number of seasons and they've all been great. They've hit a lot of genres so there's something for everyone. 010
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Make Some Noise is reliably fun. Gastronauts and Um, Actually are great if you enjoy their base format (cooking competitions and trivia shows like Jeopardy) and provide an amusing twist on it. Dimension 20 is great but there's a LOT of it, and each season can be 20+ hours. 120
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Yeah I like how they proofed it from just being a "lol Leveler good luck" machine like Beamtown Bullies or Irenicus, but it seems like you're basically locked into blink and Homeward Path. There's a couple of poison pills you can still donate like Grid Monitor and Akron Legionnaire though. 000
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 22/09/2026There's a good chance that's why, yeah. I can't imagine what else people would be going to Best Buy for in that quantity. 000
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Anywhere that sells near MSRP, like Target/Wal-Mart, will have people camping the TCG aisle on the day shipments come in to clean them out and resell. Most LGSes either sell at "market" or break the seal when selling at MSRP to prevent reselling. 110
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 22/09/2026They print a lot and it drives the price of most cards down, but there's still "chase" hits that go for hundreds and the hobby is full of grading fanatics. And over the past 2-3 years, sealed product has been in extremely high demand and has been going for several times MSRP. 110
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 21/09/2026As a "one of everything" collector, MSH has been the biggest headache in years. At least in-universe sets have basically become just the base cards (which you can get from an MTGO redemption set) and commander decks. But UB products have been spamming 4+ product lines with uniques per set. 110
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 21/09/2026MSH was the worst for this having all of the above, but most of the UB sets this year and end of last have had like 4+ of the 6. 010
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 21/09/2026I'm definitely glad to see one less product for an upcoming set. The UB sets have been pretty ridiculous having main set, commander decks, welcome decks, beginner boxes, jumpstart, and scene boxes, each with mechanically unique cards. Often multiple versions of the same character, one for each. 110
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Marvel SH Beginner Box had 53 unique cards in it that weren't available elsewhere. The ATLA tutorial decks had some cards that were unique to it but could also be found foil in Collector Boosters. 200
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 21/09/2026If by all you mean Brainstorm/Ponder/Preordain (and weaker, so not like Ancestral) - Preordain is the strongest w/o fetches. Brainstorm is the most interesting as it gives the most opportunity to counterplay discard and such. In general I wouldn't describe any as giving "a rush", they're glue cards. 000
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Ponder w/ fetches lets you take the best of the top 3 and shuffle away the 1-2 cards you don't need. It lets you see up to 4 cards deep (including shuffle) but you aren't tied to take all of them. W/o Fetches, you need some way to shuffle or you're stuck. Preordain cherrypicks better in that case. 100
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 21/09/2026That is something I don't know. I mostly pretend Arena doesn't exist. If I had to guess, I'd say they didn't want both to be legal but felt that giving Historic Ponder over Preordain would give it its own identity. Or wait, fetches are banned? That's probably why, Ponder is weaker w/o fetches. 110
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Ponder is almost certainly the stronger card, especially in formats with fetchlands where you can shuffle away any cards you see but don't want. Ponder is a Legacy staple arguably on-par with Brainstorm and was also Restricted in Vintage for a while (which left Preordain as the de facto cantrip). 001
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 21/09/2026This happened in the very first banlist update after the format was created, alongside other cards that had been identified as problematic like Blazing Shoal, Cloudpost, Green Sun's Zenith, and Rite of Flame. We finally got Preordain back in Modern in 2023. Ponder remains banned. 200
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 21/09/2026At one point, *both* Ponder and Preordain were banned in Modern. In the format's early life, blue-based combo decks like Gifts Storm, Infect, Splinter Twin, and others were deemed too consistent due to the abundance of cantrips, so they banned stuff until the best cantrip was Serum Visions. 100
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 20/09/2026After that is probably Koth with every colorless way to ramp lands. It kinda needs a couple more ways to recur lands from the graveyard IMO, but the idea of Devastating Summons into Gerrard's Hourglass Pendant tickles me. 010
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 20/09/2026The most interesting to me is Tinybones, he was one of the first cards revealed and so I don't think I ever processed him correctly on first glance. The fact that he pings *every* opponent when anyone discards means he's dealing 3 immediately and his damage racks up fast. Deck is probably salty tho. 121
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 19/09/2026She makes a bunch of zombies and sacs stuff. Even just eating a 2/2 token to split it into two tokens builds up, and when you add in lords it gets out of hand fast. Undead Warchief means you turn 1 4/3 into 4 of them. Maybe the list doesn't optimize for her with juicy targets but it's not bad. 100
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 18/09/2026If it's any consolation, goblins ate fuckin gooood last set. 010
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Actually it turns out I don't as I thought this was Tortured Existence as I was posting. 010
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 17/09/2026The vast majority of story for what was pitched to us as "a 3 year arc" happens in the final two sets, with minimal setup beforehand. It's like if new Phyrexia was *just* ONE/MOM. I don't think the story was at all bad, but I think expectations set it up as something it very much wasn't. 010
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 17/09/2026The Meditation Realm stuff finally gives us some real meat to the story - at the end of the second of three years. And then immediately the next set is the completely unconnected Edge of Eternities, leaving us over 6 months before we get back to "main story". And even then, ECL mostly introduces Tam 100
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Duskmourne seems to set up a new big bad in Valgavoth who captured Loot, but then that all gets resolved in the very next set. Jace at least does something of note that set. Then Dragonstorm felt like two stories - Tarkir itself and then Jace in the Meditation Realm. Only loose connections between. 100
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 17/09/2026The first hint of long-term plot we got was Jace's reveal at the end of OTJ, so basically confined to the final story and an epilogue story. And then the next year wasn't much better. Jace is barely mentioned in Bloomburrow and only in a couple scenes of Duskmourne. 110
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 17/09/2026I think the whole mess was a matter of poor expectation management. We got pitched three years of sets in one day and told it would all culminate in another WAR/MOM-style finale. And then they spent the first year faffing around without establishing the long-term narrative at all. 100
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Well, sure, but I was saying it gives your opponent One Ring protection, not you. I'm mostly struggling to see where this will not be substantially worse than the aforementioned Orim's Chant, or a simple Holy Day, or especially Angel's Grace. 000
Wildfire393 @wildfire393.bsky.social · 17/09/2026This is fair, it just feels like for three mana AND giving them One Ring protection it should do more than stall them a turn, especially when it means that board can't be hit by sorcery speed sweepers until they can next use it. 110
