There's a lot of false advertising about Proposition 132 www.ccjrc.org/fentanylball...

Prop 132 would:

Make any amount of fentanyl possession a felony, even first-time cases.

Punish a person sharing even one pill with the same mandatory 8 to 32-year prison sentence as the highest-level drug trafficker.

Require mandatory sentences even if the person didn’t know fentanyl was present & no money was exchanged.

Send nearly 900 more people to prison each year.

Cost taxpayers $433M in the first 5 years.

Prop 132 would NOT:

WOULD NOT increase penalties for the highest-level drug traffickers.

WOULD NOT reduce drug use or drug sales.² ³ ⁴

WOULD NOT disrupt the drug supply.³

WOULD NOT reduce overdose deaths and is projected to increase them.¹ ² ⁴

WOULD NOT expand access to treatment. Prop 132 provides no funding for the treatment it mandates and could increase wait times at treatment centers.

A Single Tree

Susan Stewart
1952 –

In the distance, at the horizon, toward sunset,
the sole survivor of a native forest
that had vanished entirely.
It stood along a long and narrow path sloping
upward, drawing a neat separation
between one place and another, alfalfa
from field corn—a stipulated deed.
It was a mark, a landmark,
in a sheaf of maps lost when the learned
surveyors left or maybe
the courthouse had housed an arsonist,
maybe someone dropped a will into
the sea.
None of that mattered.
It seemed as if the starlings worshipped something
there, but it was too far to tell and depth
perception fails as the light fails.

I used to think I knew that tree and it
knew something of me—that it would
forever be a radiant orientation,
the axis of all later turns and reversals,
fixed by roots that stretched so
deep and invisible—as far and
wide as the canopy itself.

But only today I realized how, every
so often–when I awaken in the night,
just for a moment, foundered, lost—
it is the tree that comes to me.
And then I feel the leaves again against
my hair, then I hear the wind
again, nearer, almost near.
And I look to the west and sleep.

The first three coyote encounters were in the morning. Then shortly before sunset a group of magpies descended into the clearing near my timelapse rig. A coyote came to investigate shortly therafter. Coyote enters on left, walks to middle of frame, sits a minute and then exits the way it came.

I had at least 4 separate coyote encounters, two in person and two on timelapse yesterday. We also had a rare hawk visit and rare Steller's jay visit.

The coyote is turned now and almost facing the camera, head still down as if following a scent.

I had my main rig facing the wrong direction last night. In this #allsky I also captured a full 22° halo with two moon dogs and an upper tangent arc. #atoptics

Allsky view, 360 circular fisheye pointed straight up at the night sky. The mean feature is the moon center bottom. It is surrounded by a 22° halo and has moon dogs on either side, which extend in parhelic circle. It is crowned with an upper tangent arc. A few stars are also visible through clouds.
