5 ranks out of the 7 now playable ! Trumpet and Tuba left, and percussions - however already gives a very good account of its self.

A busy day yesterday working on the "Melotone" on one of our cinema organs, the historic electronic part of a Compton cinema organ - odd alien sound but a very useful tone colour, big thanks to @jencen.bsky.social for making sure it doesnt pop and bang !

Todays explore on fox walkies - little wild garden in the country park, an excuse to sit down before the big change in elevation.

Two major hirings down this week, just home, quick swap of one Harmonium for a much earlier one, and Rossini tomorrow - not had a moment to myself this week !

And with that, draws to a close Furality 2026 - what a wonderful time was had by all of our group, without who all of what we do at the Springs wouldn't be possible, and without who I wouldn't wish to, either - here is to the next 12 months <3

Widor Fox @widorfox.bsky.social · 07/06/2026

Absolutely spectacular set by @junot.bsky.social ! Took a gaggle of the Springs regulars along with, apparently somewhat of a surprise to them I was into this genre - yes, I do more than just organ music ! Would love to see more of this kind of thing in VR Spaces.

Great panel from @tokensarcade.bsky.social just now, always tickles me how much arcade cabinets of the 80s have in common with (especially) Japanese electronic organs of that time, especially those by Kawai, JVC and Yamaha.

Widor Fox @widorfox.bsky.social · 06/06/2026

Having a wonderful time at Furality this year as ever - a nice break from organ-land ! Though I did have a heap of emails to deal with for enquiries for new clients today, its going to be a busy year !

After AI has cropped up more than a handful of times on my feed this week, entering into situations in which it is not welcomed, I count myself highly fortunate to work in a job that has never even heard of it - almost all the instruments are 100 years old or more, and no smart tech in sight !

080

Widor Fox @widorfox.bsky.social · 01/05/2026

Busy day with one of our hiring instruments - concert tomorrow, looks splendid in here !

Widor Fox @widorfox.bsky.social · 30/04/2026

Busy day today doing another Harmonium hiring, got to play the pipe organ too - which I hadn't seen since it was sat in the workshop when I was an apprentice !

Widor Fox @widorfox.bsky.social · 28/04/2026

www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPCu... One of the instruments we recently inherited for the museum is featured in this video, had forgotten it was the same instrument featured - constantly in awe of what our Harmoniums can do, far more than one would think.

Absolutely exhausted after the trip to London yesterday, three times down there in three days ! Though yesterday was a near 24 hour working day right in the centre >.> Pleased to be home and relaxing now, but what a performance ! The Mustel was very well received by the orchestra using it.

030

Widor Fox @widorfox.bsky.social · 23/04/2026

I think you know at this point about the pipe organ and theatre organ stuff from me, however what people seem to keep asking for is use of our Harmoniums, just got back from a hiring at the Barbican last night, was great fun ! The orchestra using it were fantastic.

Another 7 very important instruments followed me home to the museum today - marking the end of a chapter with their custodian who has cared for them for over 40 years, bit of a bittersweet occasion, but proud to be their next custodian.

A busy day on Saturday doing organ things again - the "Melotone" horn is on the ceiling, which is for the very early electronic stops of the organ, which uses two rotating disks etched with sine waves, that read a voltage passed over them, filter this, and then send through an amplifier - in 1937!

Busy day today on this monster!

A busy day today installing the "Crash bang whallop" department, all of the percussions on the Compton ! They look very much the part sitting to the left of the console, so people can see them working !

050

Widor Fox @widorfox.bsky.social · 02/02/2026

The great en-movening of organ went well today ! Now all in the future blower/green room, everything easy to get at in order to pick out what is needed in order etc, installation now properly started !

Interesting revelation tonight regarding a mystery console of ours at the museum, turns out it was in a movie in 1956 ! Bit of a rough state, however glad to have some history on it.

Next project awaiting me in the workshop - two manual Alexandre, mechanically mostly ok, owner wants it tuned to A440, so that will be somewhat of a pain but useful at least.

Widor Fox @widorfox.bsky.social · 22/01/2026

Yesterday marked the completion of a project very close to my heart, the Springs has always been a family of worlds centered around our community, a personal project has been the inclusion of a memorial world - to those in our community we have lost, i'm very proud of it indeed.

As 2026 has now arrived, I cannot wait to see what the year has in store, with organ projects, our first year in the new house ahead of us, and so much going on in our VR community. Reflecting on the last year, im so grateful to have such wonderful people in my life, my drgn, and great friends <3

Our most recent addition, a very rare Hammond X66 - only 4 known of in the UK, has had a very rough life, but we will have it singing well soon !

Thats better, other side tomorrow, and then think about papering and regluing all the ivories which have come off as the instrument has been so damp in someones barn !
