Without seeing the incidents you mentioned I can't comment on them other than, if harm was done then yes there has to be charges, but punishment must be proportionate to the crime committed. And if you compare it to the Manchester Airport attack, 2 years for a bottle throw is very OTT.

If you're referring to the activist, then yes I think she's focusing on the wrong problem entirely and claiming it's racism when the vast majority just care about safety. If she wants to live with the 1250 migrant men, then she's more than welcome to, but it's at her own risk.

Masks and balaclavas should be banned, but if they're banned then they should be banned for everyone, and that's unlikely to happen given the reaction to other masked protests by both the police and the government. I'm all for equal treatment for equal crimes.

Other than some water splashing and blocking roads, I've not seen any thuggish behaviour, apparently one person threw a bottle and got 2 years for it (insane when compared to other protests where people have thrown worse at police and not even been charged for it).

NIMBY is pretty straight forward. As many of the Piddington residents have said, refugees are welcome, just not right next to them. I don't remember them speaking out about any other areas...just like the Greens MP (Rachel Millward) that also opposed asylum seekers in her own constituency.

She says she came to the UK for richness and diversity, so she decided to live in Piddington which was 98%+ white in the 2011 census, and still 96% white as on 2021. Somehow I doubt her story there or she'd very happily be living amongst diversity in London, Birmingham, Leicester or Bradford.

I think in the same way people call Farage far-right, O'Brien would be accurately described as far-left. Liberalism is anything but, these days, as shown by Labour and the Greens, it's more about being authoritarian and telling people what they're not allowed to do. Most normal people are central.

What is she on about diversity and richness 40 years ago? The UK was 95% white in the 1991 census. Piddington had just 6 out of 370 people that were non-white only 15 years ago. 40 years ago it was probably 100% white. She's just another "NIMBY" virtue signaller. Like most of the middle classes.
