If you buy the villain pen, do you have to write left-handed?

I had to get out of regular superhero comics because of the lack of real endings. It made the endings of story arcs or creator runs feel false, knowing they would be overturned or ignored by the next team.

In today's Office, Saint Bernard considers the Incarnation as the fulfillment of fundamentally human desires: to be understood, to be seen, and to be thought of.

We still get these every now and then (Rainbow Rowell's SHE-HULK runs a few years ago were terrific), but they used to be thick on the ground. And at their best, like North/Henderson's Squirrel Girl or Wilson's Ms. Marvel, we got some all-time classics.

Is there a name for the 2010s comic trend of taking an established superhero, plopping them into a cheerful, lightly comedic setting with a lovable new supporting cast, and sending them on high-concept adventures? That was my jam.

Given the two novels announced for the BBC's Hot Poirot series (Peril at End House and Lord Edgeware Dies), I think I've cracked the code. They're doing early novels, more or less in publication order, BUT skipping the first several that have fallen into public domain.

To be fair many of the same people were equally weird about a Black Ariel, so it just might not really be about Aslan after all.

Whenever I login to Facebook, I just see stuff like this old screen cap from a Diagnosis Murder episode that misspelled Saint Clare‘s name. I consider myself lucky that way.
If I recall correctly, the episode had Delta Burke as a crime-solving nun.

She wrote an article 30 years ago arguing that Catholic judges should recuse themselves from cases where their obedience to Church teaching would cause them to contradict the proper interpretation of the law. Either she thinks differently now, or she does not recognize the immorality of her votes.

Just started, but it's already interesting that Foley has used her signature format (alternating POV characters, nonlinear timeline). Reads more like "Lucy Foley writes a novel set in Miss Marple's world" than "Lucy Foley continues Agatha Christie's Miss Marple series."

I remember watching my high school Christmas pageant, which began with a bunch of angels excitingly talking about how Michael was going to start going by a new name.

One of my favorite pieces of Adventist lore is that they believe Michael is another identity for Jesus in the Bible. It was explained to me by a well-meaning but ill-informed religion teacher in high school that, just like an archbishop is not a bishop, an archangel is not an angel.

In today's Office, Polycarp demonstrates the classic early Christian rhetorical tactic of "sweet inversion," in which the bad things of the world are used to reveal spiritual values underneath. Here, the chains of prisoners are inverted into regal adornments.
