Just my 2 cents. But my goal is to ignore the trolls. Give them zero attention. Block them if they annoy me. I think the worst thing we can do on this site is re-create the ad hominem/ personal attacks that occur across comments on Twitter/insta/tiktok/ etc

What's really needed to apply Shor's algorithm to breaking say RSA-2048 encryption is a fault-tolerant quantum computer with millions of physical qubits (translating to hundreds of thousands of logical qubits). We’re still years away from achieving this level of fault tolerance. 🧵 4/4

The challenge lies in scaling up the number of qubits and maintaining error correction and coherence at scale. Current systems are in the range of tens to a few hundred qubits, with limited error correction and decent (but short) decoherence times. 🧵 3/4

Thanks, it's nice to be here. As far as Shor’s algorithm goes, and for those who may not know, it's a quantum algorithm for factoring large numbers efficiently. This poses a significant threat to classical cryptography if implemented on a large enough quantum computer. 🧵 1/4
