the developer as we know it is now extinct, we now have AI write libraries for AI to use, not humans. what does that entail? easy to read documentation, clear and simple API, lots of examples to reference...wait a minute how is this for AI again? oh yeah, we created some "prompts" and "skills"... 🙄

it's insane how unusable Notion has become in the past year. from completely crashing (the worst while writing), database cards don't save properly in kanban, and don't even get me started on how terrible the UX of their mobile app is thanks to the AI takeover

I miss applying to jobs and having people looking for candidates who challenge them and their perceptions (often coming from a place of more experience). Now everyone thinks they’re a SME with an LLM and won’t have a real conversation with you that doesn’t involve them using some bots response.

how it started vs how it's going: DAW edition

The initial version of the DAW with a lot of placeholder UI and debug widgets. It has a top navigation bar with lots of buttons like playback controls or an arrangement timer. Underneath is a split view with media library on left and a timeline on right. Below is a module area with different debug modules like a playback time.

the updated version of the DAW with more refined styling. the UI has a soft gradient style, with clear defined panels. each track is set to a custom color which is reflected in the track clips coloring.

honestly this was the wildest one this morning in the job hunt. in order to apply for perplexity, I need to use perplexity and have it "advocate" for me and convince them to hire me. absolute madness.

a section from the Perplexity job application titled "Perplexity Exercise" which asks the candidates to familiarize themselves with the product and pick between 2 options. each option requires logging onto Perplexity and prompting it, then submitting the URL of the thread for review. the first option is "teach us about your favorite topic", the second is "enlist Perplexity as your champion!".

it never ceases to disappoint me when an LLM responds with something that's clearly just a copy of existing documentation somewhere. like I had to run a GPU full blast, have it "think" for a minute just to return what pops up at the top of Google.

really enjoyed ride or die as a fan of action and espionage. it started strong and was packed with plenty of funny moments consistently bookended with solid action sequences. the ending fell a little flat, but overall highly recommend.

Here’s an example of the multi track workflow in my DAW. You can edit the start and end ranges of clips and swap tracks. It all syncs up with the Rust backend which handles playback natively using a Mixer class that combines all the tracks together. whoisryosuke.com/blog/2026/cr...
