I've been meaning to try and it for a while but the chat over on the TIN discord nudged me towards just giving it a try.

I haven't come across that site before so I'll take a look. This is mostly just to try and improve my product photos but I'm also building up a props collection for convention games while I playtest a new spy game.

I threw together a test photo using various props I already had, not bad for a quick assembly of bits.

Ooh, I shall have to look that up. I've got a few fonts based on the early IBM electronic typewriters but always on the lookout for more options.

Why yes, I did just place a bid on eBay for some strips of microfiche so I can make some espionage photo mock-ups. Next, some hand made one time pads.

Having learned to drive in Somerset that feels narrow but not unusual - regularly drove on roads like that but I get why it can feel unsettling for a lot of people.

Somehow the various concept docs and drafts for my spy game have already crossed 15,000 words. There's a lot of repetition and ideas that have been rejected but for someone used to making small games it feels weird to have reached that number without intending to.

I bought it at expo but not yet got around to giving it a try. What are your initial thoughts on it?

Me: I have made a 32 page SRD and a workbook and this is my first time running a thing @gshowitt.bsky.social, with a single pen and paper: here is how to fight God

Yes, it was really interesting to hear about your approach and the workbook is pure genius! I don't think I'd have ever considered it possible to structure a guide to building your own game in that way.

I attended the inaugural Questival in Port Sunlight today and went to both of the game design workshops - it's fair to say that @fistfulofcrits.bsky.social and @gshowitt.bsky.social showcased two very different approaches to building a game!
A workbook and SRD for the Chapters RPG systemA chaotic mix of cut out text and rough writing in pen of a game called Get God

I am hoping it really grows in coming years, it was well organised and had a great vibe to it. Next year I'll probably either run something or get my own table.

Craig @whodo.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Given the number of people that were at it I would say a lot of people knew about it but the marketing was very much local area given it was the inaugural event. Games were also only a small section of it - the primary focus was more literary.

Craig @whodo.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
I wonder if some of the stuff that @voidspacezine.bsky.social organise and host would be of interest - they sort of sit in that space between art/literature/games and feature a lot of experimental experiences

Craig @whodo.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
End of the week and I'm looking forward to attending the inaugural Questival in Port Sunlight tomorrow. I'm hoping it becomes a regular event and one I can support by offering games or having a table at in the future.

Craig @whodo.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
You're the second person I've heard say that this week, I'll have to take note of that when I schedule mine.

Craig @whodo.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
While I've been adding many notes to the working doc I finally managed a solid block of focused writing on my YZE this evening, rewriting character talents and crit tables. It's still an early WIP but I'm looking forward to a public outing at Dragonmeet.

Congrats to the winners, while I'd have loved to have been amongst them it was lovely just to see The Words We Leave Behind be nominated for Best Indie RPG.

I'm surprised there isn't an adaptation of the Metro 2033 novels into a ttrpg as they're basically a post apocalyptic mega dungeon in the Moscow underground.

Craig @whodo.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Not a mega dungeon but Terminus by @patchworkfez.bsky.social uses the underground for a modern day horror scenario. terminus.patchworkfez.games

What I want to be doing today: working on the cold war spy scenario I'll be running at Dragonmeet What I'm actually doing: prepping for a PhD viva (my first as an examiner) and creating mock datasets for an upcoming PG module.

Yeah, unless you're confident on making a good number of sales it's difficult to justify for larger products. I've found it worthwhile for zines as the costs are lower but can see how it doesn't make sense for hardbacks unless you can find others to bundle in with

since some people apparently have "lives" & "families" & "friends" and so didn't spend the weekend smearing germs around a little screen & missed it, we've extended our DriveThruRPG flash sale for another 24 hours with all issues, including our latest, 1/2 price www.drivethrurpg.com/en/publisher...

Having just received the 2nd edition books Cold City / Hot War 1st edition comes to mind, would have loved to do a side by side comparison. Also Deathwatch, not because it was good but just for the nostalgia of the lore.

Completed my first gunpla and I can definitely see the appeal of building more. This was only an entry grade model but plenty of articulation and detail and that's before I consider adding panel lining or paint.

I started on my very first gunpla model today and I am really appreciating how straightforward it is compared to Western style models.

Quickly followed up by the washing machine making broken noises and warping the seal beyond belief. Guess this bank holiday will include a traditional trip to Currys.

I can certainly think of worse ways to spend a wet Saturday morning than annotating a 1957 map of Berlin with the location of locations known to have been used by intelligence organisations of the time.

I don't specifically remember that. My memories of it are quite vague, more of it being on TV and it being important than any actual details.

Fall of the Berlin Wall - I didn't really understand the significance beyond it was filling all of the news (and of course there were only 4 TV channels in the UK at that point).

Hi BlueSky, I humbly seek recommendations for two-player epistolary/ letter-writing games. I'm looking to actually physically send and receive papers (could be more than a letter, for example, an updated 'map'), it just needs to be easily played in letter-writing format ☺️ Any genre. Thanks! 💛

You would want to write and do the signal degradation steps digitally but Signal to Noise works well for this (and the delay of sending physical letters would mirror the light speed lag) Available in print here (and digitally in all the usual places) lunarshadowrpg.sumupstore.com/product/sign...
