Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 16/10/2026Overly formulaic #books annoy me more than I'd care to admit. 010 1
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 12/10/2026In my most recent and ruthless edit of my book, I have reached chapter 5 of 20. The editing process is so hard, but ultimately I think it is the 2nd most fun part of the writing process. Just not quite as fun as that näive first draft. Thems were the days. #writingcommunity 040 4
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 08/10/2026I will never buy a book that is being promoted using AI art. #writingcommunity #fuckai 141 4
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 07/10/2026I am using first-person reflective storytelling for this one, which is great for leaving a trail of foreshadow throughout the book. I love to use mirroring in the story where one thing at the start is like another thing we see later, sometimes obviously and other times subtly. #HorrorWritersChat 041 4
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 07/10/2026The harvest was good this year. Too good. The soil has turned to dust again. It will take years to recover, but that's okay. We have time. And the yield has already been shipped. There is a party in the hall tonight where the workers will be busy drawing lots. Bolt the doors. #HorrorWritersChat 040 4
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 07/10/2026My story begins with a family arriving at their new rural home, and one of the first things they do is tame their garden and plant seeds. You can tell a bit about people by how they keep their garden, and so to avoid spoilers I'll just say that they don't get much of a harvest. #HorrorWritersChat 040 4
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 07/10/2026I haven't done one of these in a while. I am Conrad Whittler. I am writing a horror novel set on a rural peninsula in Scotland about three sisters who go missing in the woods. The creepiest thing that grows where it shouldn't, is fascist ideology in a post WW2 society. #HorrorWritersChat 071 7

Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 02/10/2026The new Resident Evil movie is great. Loving this new trend of the true Horror Comedy genre, prime example being Widow's Bay which is also excellent. #writingcommunity #horror 041 4

Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 07/07/2026After some optimisation and a steep as learning curve, my #psp homebrew game now runs at 60fps... most of the time. #gamedev 050 5
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 01/07/2026While maybe not scientifically accurate, I'm pleased with my 2d game's resource-strapped depiction of a blackhole. There are no sprites or animations in use here. It's all just shapes and colours in code. This is a recording of testing on a #psp. Time dilation is an important factor. #gamedev 1100 10
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 30/06/2026Not that I expected it to be easy, but making a game is quite difficult. Especially on 20+ year old hardware. #gamedev #psp 3130 13

Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 16/05/2026People who write or read serials, where do you post/find them? I've heard of Royal Road and Scribblehub and Wattpad, are there any other hidden gems out there? #writingcommunity 120 2
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 08/05/2026I completely understand people being upset with Labour, but how the fuck does that translate into giving power to Nigel fucking Farage? How stupid do you have to be to buy the promise of a cure from the man who poisoned the country? 032 3

Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 23/04/2026Nothing is more inspiring to me as a writer than reading a good book. #horrorwriterschat #writingcommunity 031 3
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 23/04/2026#Writing is the only part of this process I am any good at. I deal with the other two by omitting them entirely and accruing unpublished works that will hopefully some day become sentient and publish/market themselves. #horrorwriterschat 252 5
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 10/04/2026#gamedev Regarding the tedious task that is 3d asset creation (I'm sure some people love it). I at least feel like the more my confidence grows, the faster I can crank out these out. Learning to not be precious about every object, no need for unnecessary detail that players aren't going to notice. 052 5
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 04/04/2026Making assets is both fun and painful, especially without an art background. Do other solo game developers do all tbeir own assets or am I making this whole thing unnecessarily difficult for myself? (3D) #gamedev 493 9
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 01/04/2026I am Conrad Whittler, unpublished writer. I am not exclusively a horror writer truth be told, but the manuscript I am currently editing is an eerie culty cottagegore kind of story. Imprisonment in horror is most effective when there are no locks or cages involved, yet the characters cannot leave. 144 4

Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 18/03/2026I think often about signing out. Deleting all the apps. Deleting accounts. Getting a typewriter and a few colouring pencils to entertain myself, start playing guitar again and making more things out of wood. Maybe get an old phone and use cash instead of card. Something like that. 010 1
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 05/03/2026The presence of a dog in #Horror as a companion is scary by itself because there's always the chance that something bad will happen to the dog, no doubt while it is being loyal af. 110 1
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 26/02/2026Ambitious #writing ideas are simultaneously the most annoying and rewarding. And probably the least marketable but I'll worry about that later (or never). 010 1
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 12/02/2026When in a writing session, I try to stop in the middle of a scene rather than at the end, otherwise I will put off writing the next scene. Because to sit down at my desk and be looking at a blank page is daunting no matter how much planning I might have done. #HorrorWritersChat 020 2

Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 21/01/2026Currently writing a non-horror story where the protagonist/narrator is a cat. It's about as far from a horror story as I have ever written. Anyway, I'm pretty sure he would have no love in his heart for Squirrel day. #HorrorWritersChat 142 4
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 21/01/2026#HorrorWritersChat "Even those who live alone and shun all that lies beyond their locked doors have experienced that empty embrace that wraps the darkest of nights. Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 21/01/2026I'm Connie Whittles, I don't only write Horror, but the horror I do write tends to be cosmic/supernatural. Despite my irreligousness, my favourite 'international' day is pancake day, for obvious reasons. #HorrorWritersChat 072 7
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 21/01/2026Today I have drafted names and covers for the sequels to the novella I haven't even finished writing yet. Sometimes it's fun to have unrealistic expectations. No regrets. #writingcommunity 050 5
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 20/01/2026Currently writing a cosy novella featuring a feline narrator, and whittling a wonky wooden spoon. #writingcommunity 110 1
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 14/01/2026Oh now that could be a spoiler, but I'd say it's a combination of supernatural forces and human nature. #HorrorWritersChat 051 5
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 14/01/2026I often use a narrator who was present for the events of the story, and they are telling us what happened reflectively. Using this perspective allows me to allude to the experience of the narrator before they have described the events that 'changed' them. #HorrorWritersChat 041 4
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 14/01/2026I've found the same thing crop up in a few stories I have written, and that is the false assumption that 'good' is an ethical standard maintained by the majority of people. In my fiction such as in the world right now, it often isn't. #HorrorWritersChat 062 6
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 14/01/2026I'm Conrad Whittler, the horror story I have written is a bit of a genre blend, I'd call it a family cosmic horror story. It wasn't influenced by a particular book, rather by a specific Scottish folktale and a few local stories I remember from growing up. #HorrorWritersChat 044 4

Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 27/11/2025I almost always #write stories that are narrated by a character within the story. Usually framed as them telling the story for a reason. Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 24/11/2025Back on the editing train for a time. It's not as fun as the writing train, it's slower, and there are more stops. But hey, at the end is a properly finished book. 💙📚 #writingcommunity 020 2
Conrad Whittler @whittlerofworlds.bsky.social · 02/11/2025Sometimes I write using the Word app on my mobile phone like some kind of #writing freak. Not just notes, actual manuscript sentences. It doesn't feel right but sometimes it needs to be done. 📚💙 120 2
