Ben Keene @whereandback.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Really want to get back there in a month other than February. 010
Ben Keene @whereandback.bsky.social · 04/10/2026An attractive space with some good looking beers! 100
Ben Keene @whereandback.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Ah yes, some of my favorite styles: 8A and 34B. 😁 230
Ben Keene @whereandback.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Any desire and/or time to add a stop or two in the PNW after California? I know people at quite a few breweries who might be interested. 120
Ben Keene @whereandback.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Makes total sense. Other breweries I have spoken with bring up consistency of product as well as the cost as two big drawbacks. 010
Ben Keene @whereandback.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Yes we did, among many others. Gold Rush in Baker City, Oregon for example. But Admiral was one of the biggest in the country. Its distillery customers vanished and I imagine it has been shedding breweries too. Have you guys worked with a smaller maltster, or do you plan to? 110
Ben Keene @whereandback.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Without being facetious, I wonder if the closure of California's Admiral Maltings is a canary in the coal mine for craft malt? With COGS rising for breweries, margins are tighter, and beer sales continue to struggle. Will more maltsters follow suit or stay the course? brewpublic.com/beer-news/ad...brewpublic.com 110
Ben Keene @whereandback.bsky.social · 27/09/2026A beautiful early fall day with nothing planned calls for a trip to Chuckanut Brewery where you can enjoy one of North America's best Dunkels. 050
Ben Keene @whereandback.bsky.social · 27/09/2026As the authors put it plainly in their post: Nobody wants beer apps. 053
Ben Keene @whereandback.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Not sure where you're drinking, but it sounds like you need to visit the PNW. Currently pouring at the brewery I dropped by today: Pilsner, Munich Helles, Hefe, Dry Hopped Strong Ale, Mosaic Pale, Citra IPA, fresh hop IPA with Centennial, West Coast IPA, double IPA, etc. 110
Ben Keene @whereandback.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Interesting. What are you looking for that you can't find anymore? Is it experience, selection, atmosphere? All three? 200
Ben Keene @whereandback.bsky.social · 25/09/2026I gotta say, the beer quality geek in me does love a bar that advertises its last line cleaning. 120
Ben Keene @whereandback.bsky.social · 18/09/2026The world order might be collapsing and Skynet is coming for us, but in the meantime, those of us in the #pnw have fresh hop beer to enjoy. Last night I chose Revenant, an unfiltered WCIPA from Structures Brewing with fresh Citra hops from Oregon. Happy fresh hop Friday! 010
Ben Keene @whereandback.bsky.social · 08/09/2026A lot of people spend time in public parks over Labor Day weekend. That said, I don't think there are many places outside of the PNW where you would find a fresh hop IPA _and_ a Polish-style Grodziskie among the cans in the recycling bin. 020
Ben Keene @whereandback.bsky.social · 06/09/2026For anyone who needs it, here's your annual reminder to go drink draft beer in a hop field before the end of the harvest in late September. vinepair.com/articles/bre...vinepair.comToast Under the Trellises at These Breweries That Grow Their Own HopsFrom raising a liter of lager in a Bavarian beer garden to sipping a chalice of Trappist ale at a monastic brewery, or knocking back a pint of bitter in an English pub, there are a few quintessential ... 010

Ben Keene @whereandback.bsky.social · 02/09/2026IPA (in its ever changing versions and expressions) is here to stay. And big brewers _have_ cared about hops other than Noble varieties. In fact, MillerCoors can take at least partial credit for the existence of Citra. vinepair.com/articles/cit...vinepair.comCrushing on Citra: The High-Impact Hop in Your Favorite IPAIn 2010, a new beer went on tap at the Fred Miller Pub, Miller Brewing’s employee bar. Ben Keene @whereandback.bsky.social · 02/09/2026What even is a childhood in the PNW without a trip to a hop field during harvest season? 140
Ben Keene @whereandback.bsky.social · 23/08/2026Even if I eat nothing else in Lincoln City, Oregon, this tantalizing hot buttered lobster roll from Rook & Larder was worth the trip. 030
Ben Keene @whereandback.bsky.social · 20/08/2026Good question! Session is a very UK term and likely unfamiliar to many. But we need a way to differentiate. Half Strength or Mid Strength seems awkward. And I guess Pale Ale doesn't work either. 😁 000
Ben Keene @whereandback.bsky.social · 18/08/2026They're back, just don't call them Session IPAs... 101

Ben Keene @whereandback.bsky.social · 25/07/2026Wish I'd been in Chicago for @offcolorbrewing.bsky.social's release of pH1 yesterday, but I'm grateful that @rudyfaust.bsky.social shared a photo of the legendary barrel. Ben Keene @whereandback.bsky.social · 20/07/2026Sad to learn that the world of brewing lost a true pioneer in Alan Sprints yesterday. He was a quiet yet powerful force in the industry, and I had the pleasure of spending time with him more than once over the years. Here's my short interview with him from 2015: www.beeradvocate.com/articles/110... 021
