Interesting piece, giving much pause for thought. However, I would question the arithmetic.

Fairy quiet traps 21/9 (33/10) & 22/9 (43/14). However, Acrobasis suavella on the latter date was new for me with Black Rustic & Scrobipalpa ocellatana were nfy. Otherwise much as recent traps, 3 Garden Rose Tortrix and Eudonia angustea being the only 'different' species VC37 SO96 #teammoth

I've never had 100+ of any species, although I did have 99 Large YUs one night earlier this month.

I've read the book, which was OK. Won't be able to comment on the Netflix interpretation as I generally avoid watching anything I've read. Usually raises too many utterances of "That didn't happen in the book".

Another brown trap this morning, but more so. Nothing nfy, but my first Shuttle-shaped Darts & Garden Carpet for three weeks. Best was probably a single Pale Mottled Willow. 48/14 overall VC37 SO96 #teammoth

This morning's trap of 84/27 was almost exclusively brown, Lunar Underwing (5) being the only nfy and Silver Y & Rush Veneer the only hint of migration. Large YU, with 37, were unsurprisingly the most numerous but Lesser YU just reached double figures with 11 VC37 SO96 #teammoth

Absolutely no knowledge of leaf mines, this one caught my eye this afternoon. Obsidentify gives either S.aurella or S.spendidisimmella, so I presume the former is more likely but not definite.

175/17 in the trap this morning, despite the damp & blustery conditions. S Unexpectedly, 99 of them were Large YU, wth 23 Sq-spot & 16 Vine's Rustics also in double-figures. Migrants: 2 Rush Veneer & singles of Silver Y, PM Willow & Turnip. Also 2 Small Ranunc & 3 Cent-bar Sallow VC37 SO96 #teammoth

Three hours to 20.00 at Moors Pool #uptonwarren. Several heavy rain showers didn't bring anything in, so the best was a single Wigeon that has been around for 2-3 days & a good count of 41 Gadwall.

A first for me this morning was Jersey Tiger. Scarce in Worcs to the end of 2024, I'm not sure how many have been reported in Worcs. in 2025 & 2026 to date, but suspect it's quite a few as the species spreads north. VC37 SO96 #teammoth

It can be overwhelming, especially if you don't trap regularly so you get used to increasing numbers gradually. Just go for whatever looks different with the pots, macro or micro. It helps if you can deal with the trap indoors. You can then pot anything that looks interesting from walls & windows.

The thing that struck me initially about Toadflax was that the crossbands seemed brighter and more solid in colour. That made me look at it more closely.
