the presentation had more to do with how the plan was written than the plan itself, but the actual plan is worth a look--or skim, since it's very long: www.charlottesville.gov/DocumentCent...

this is a really bad headline. they count hybrids, which are fully powered by gas, as non-gas vehicles. diesel cars are also in a separate category. bev/phev growth is strong, but they're nowhere near 50% of sales.

he also keeps asking when we're going to find out what ana is, and when we'll actually encounter a cup that's tainted.

e-bikes are great because they make bikes accessible to more people--but a lot of those new cyclists were never taught anything about bike maintenance growing up

i've been reading "the tainted cup" by @robertjbennett.bsky.social to my almost-nine-year-old, and it's going surprisingly well. i just elide the violent parts, and occasionally skip a section he wouldn't understand. he's also better at guessing the plot than i was.

i just think that if you crash your car into another person, vehicle, or building, you should by default lose your license for a year, and have to retake your test to get it back

this isn't to say the tools are bad, exactly--the physician assistant also prescribed me the wrong meds, and i used claude to figure out what i should have been prescribed instead (and got a better doctor to confirm it). but somebody has to review the output!

i was reading my clinical notes from a recent sentara visit, and they included a hallucinated medical issue that i never mentioned. i really doubt the staff reviewed the notes before signing off on them.

that project isn't in the five-year plan i'm looking at, and may have been replaced with a paint and posts project. not confident that any of this will actually happen.

cville denizens: anybody want to guess how much new sidewalk the city is planning to build between now and fy 2031? we're budgeting about $11.6m for sidewalk construction and design, combined.

maybe people aren't mad because inflation is higher than they want. maybe they're mad because the administration is intentionally pulling all the levers to make it worse.

you live in a real city, right? i would say you should visit a few shops, test a variety of bikes, and think about what will work well for your use cases. ignore most reviews, which are generally sponsored, and preferences are idiosyncratic. any bike you enjoy and can get serviced will be great.
