I think Tottenham has also been largely let down by massive injury crises the last two seasons and the hiring of Thomas Frank, whose principles and coaching philosophy did not match up with a squad built for Ange Postecoglou. The first 17th place finish was a red herring. The 2nd time wasn't.

It's tough to base a transfer market on three matches, but Spurs operate in a "No Man's Land" of sorts when buying players; not buying the best players in the world, and not moneyballing to find undervalued talent. Have they hedged their long-term future? Maybe, with Vuskovic going to Brighton.

People will cry corruption or whatever and totally gloss over the misapplied VAR protocols which led to the red card. www.espn.com/soccer/story...

VAR made their recommendation to the referee based on slow-motion and still replays, which is not aligned with VAR protocols, as these should be used for only point-of-contact purposes in a red card tackle situation. Once at the screen, however, it would have been a surprise if the referee did not send off Balogun considering the pictures he was presented by VAR.
