Saw a comment at the other place by Farfa on state of Yugioh, and I appreciate the Fusion Dimension propaganda lol

Not only am I glad this is finally out, it also means I can finally show off some artwork I had commissioned during the production for myself by @teatigercafe.bsky.social . So come listen in on the adventures of The Great and Powerful Sparkie (and friends) in my first actual play podcast role!

God, I haven't updated my OTK Ancient Gear guide since last May. I haven't been on the deck since then either, but there's a train whistle calling me like a siren that has me trying to think about it again with Blazing Dominion... Some WIP thinking:

Can't say I got a lot of DnD style OCs these days, so let's go with a superhero setting magic user instead lol (art commissioned from SuperiorSpy on X):

Recently got some new art of my Masks: A New Generation OC, Nova Playbook hero Arcana aka Amalia, done by @vol-sen.bsky.social . She's currently set up in a campaign that's got a tropical-summer vibe and felt like getting some art of her in an appropriate outfit.

"YOUR TAKING TOO LONG RAGATHA" I'm so sorry, it the first thing that came to mind when I saw this scene TuT. #tadcspoilers

Apparently some kind of #AppreciateADragonDay or something, so screw it, one of my dragon OCs for Masks: A New Generation. Ruby Drake, Legacy playbook dragon shapeshifter ala American Dragon Jake Long. First art by SuperiorSpy, second art by @vexwyn.bsky.social

More artwork of my werewolf OC, this time by @vexwyn.bsky.social . Went for a bit of a gym bro selfie vibe for her cause hey, why not show off those full moon induced muscles?

Got a custom field center based on Brilliant Fusion! Gem-Knight's been another favorite deck of mine these last few months so figured get myself a little treat. Ordered from SierraPrimeProxys on Etsy.

Finally got my first first place win at my local OTS store after...god, 3 years I think of playing there (closest before was getting 2nd). Was on Gem-Knights. Was a simple 3-1 plus bye win, but I'll take it.

So with #YugiohTCG banlist season on the way, I did try and figure out what a "Mulcharmy Droll" might look like and came up with this:

Lord help me if this is a new Earth Machine archetype:

I was a playtester for the system as the Illusionist Raven Mist (the art is by OGSuperiorSpy at the other place), so highly recommend picking the system up if you like magical girls and idols!

However, she got new life as a Masks: A New Generation OC, though her backstory spiraled into "Actress in Kim Possible knock-off show gets mutated and thinks being a superhero is her best way back to fame and fortune". (this art by SuperiorSpy on the Masks Discord).

OC lore train 🚂 Explain your oc’s lore in the shittiest way possible Sadly never got to really use them in DnD, but basic idea was "thieves guild gets a lizardfolk egg, raises her as a mascot, she apparently good at stealing and stabbing things". (art by Filibusterfrog on Tumblr).

Using my guide's example deck, there's 12 one-card starters (green), Frame serving as a 1.5 card (just needs a discard), and 10 cards that can be starters provided you pulled the correct half of the two-card combo, which is either Tanker or Catapult.

The fun thing about this theory crafting guide to Ancient Gears is sometimes I write two paragraphs defending why I think a card is good and useful, and then sometimes I just have to write this:

Whammy @whammyanalysis.bsky.social · 30/01/2025

#Yugioh meme from the other place by Farfa. Madolche is probably a stretch for "Challenge", but considering it's strong locks into it's own archetype it is the deck that probably has the biggest challenge of not relying on generic extra deck cards.

Whammy @whammyanalysis.bsky.social · 29/01/2025

We got some new artwork for one of the cards of the Odion retrain archetype coming in March, and I want to know who tf is putting these cheese grater abs on Anubis?:

Finished Tower of Nero the other day, marking completion of the Trials of Apollo part of the #PercyJackson series. Got the Nico & Will spinoff to read, then see if get the newer books for Christmas. In the meantime, here's the thoughts I wrote down on Trials of Apollo:

Anyway, Steamroid and Thousand-Eye are just some childhood favorites. Loved the Roids in my little kid Machine pile deck, Thousand Eyes/Relinquished in my Spellcaster pile deck. I want a Roid retrain so bad but sadly Speedroids probably interfere with that ever happening.

Did a meme of favorite Yugioh cards from the other place, and was pointed out to me that I apparently have a severe bias towards Earth and Water decks. Looking back, yeah, other than Dogmatika Nouvelles & Melodious I have literally only played Water or Earth decks since getting back into the game.

Whammy @whammyanalysis.bsky.social · 29/11/2024

BTW, I've been tracking the main decklists of the YCS Bologna Top 64 as they've come in and, uh, yeah, if people are playing 15-20+ handtraps perhaps it's perfectly fair to have something that counters it in the form of negations or punishments:

000

Whammy @whammyanalysis.bsky.social · 17/11/2024

Ok, forgot I don't have enough followers for this to work lol. So I'll just like my own post and then put up the GOAT of archetype search and support cards: Toy Vendor. Soft OP, multiple ways to access it, only thing stopping Fluffals from a powerhouse is harder to access the Frightfur side:

Glad I can finally put the one Engraver I pulled back when INFO released to good use. Requires Slime/Archfiend Maker coin flip to go your way (they get Slime and you get Archfiend), but this is best case of Dungeon add Dragon (just Dragon gets you everything but Dungeon).
