Good News! Today the BC Court of Appeal granted us leave to "intervene" in the charter challenge of Bill 21. We believe equating addiction with incompetency, and mandating treatment for workers with addictions violates the charter of rights and freedoms. www.bccourts.ca/jdb-txt/ca/2...

We're going to the BC Court of Appeal! Bill 21 forces lawyers with addictions to undergo abstinence-based "medical treatment" with the threat of job loss & imprisonment if they don't comply. We argue this violate the Canadian Charter & infringes upon the rights of workers with addictions.

To be eligible for a liver transplant in BC, patients have to be abstinent from alcohol for 6 months. Hopefully the Human Rights Tribunal will force the province to stop this discriminatory requirement that disproportionately harms Indigenous people. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
