Do you live in the Bay Area? I do. I am not lying. Good luck finding a 1BR w less than a 45 minute commute for that price. To get that average price or median price rental, the commute will be long. Or it will be in the tenderloin with very substandard conditions.

In the Bay Area 4 to 5 hours daily commute is fairly standard. A 3 hour or less daily commute is lucky and rare. Yes, it is too long. But it is very common. And it is the lower wage workers who do it. The shorter commutes of 45 minutes each way mean your 1BR apt is something like 5k/mo.
