It still supports it in landscape mode on any version. It doesn’t support it in portrait, but at least it still lets part of some websites to render below the floating navigation controls if there’s nothing fixed at the bottom.

The new iPhone Duo (at time of filming) doesn't seem to have any support for viewport-fit=cover, preventing anything from appearing below the vertical bar. Please let this be a bug, and not yet another set of APIs we need to adhere. env(), safe-inset, viewport-fit=cover should just work.
Screen capture of the iPhone Duo simulated on Device Hub. Safari is open on localhost where a page is displaying a "viewport-fit=cover" Safe-area edge test page.

There is a vertically placed yellow-black striped bar positioned at the right, however it is touching the left side of the vertical bar, and not under it.Screen capture of two simulated devices in Device Hub.

At the top and iPhone 18 Pro in landscape, and below it an iPhone Duo open, also in landscape.

Both have safari open on localhost where a page is displaying a "viewport-fit=cover" Safe-area edge test page.

There is a vertically placed yellow-black striped bar positioned at the right on both. On the first iPhone it is touching the right side of the screen, and a right: env() div is correctly placed inside the safe area.

On the second iPhone, the bar is also touching the side, but the right safe area is 0.

@jensimmons.bsky.social do y'all already have a proposed solution for rendering below the vertical bar?

Chrome is expediting two APIs, the Prompt API which lets a website run a small local large language model, and WebMCP, which allows a website to offer MCP support. What if we plug one to the other…

I used Apple’s newer Foundation Models framework, which exposes Apple’s built-in language model to apps through LanguageModelSession. I am matching headlines to my preferences (written sentence + positive and negative tags), and after they pass, I run it to summarise each downloaded news article.

In choosing the new Siri, they threw away the old Siri that was extremely reliable (to its own detriment and perceived stupidity). Which one is worse? Both? Hard to say.

Wes Souza @wes.dev · 11/06/2026
Here’s a small example of why Apple took so long to change Siri to a broader “more” intelligent model. Back in “classic Siri”, I would say “hey Siri I don’t like this song”, and it would correctly mark it, and also skip it on Apple Music. Today I said the same to the new Siri.

Today we learned: - oo is one letter - there are two Ps in the word Google - there is 1 P in GsooglePlay - there is 1 P in GsooglePay - the word “Google” is actually the word “Play”
Screen capture of google results.

how many Ps are in google

There are 2 "P"s in the word "Google"

G-oo-g-l-e
Depending on what exactly you meant, you could also be asking about:
• The letter 'P' in related products: There is 1 "P" in G-s-o-o-g-I-e P-I-a-y, and 1 "P" in G-s-o-o-g-
I-e P-a-y.
• The word "Google" with a P: The word "P-I-a-y" has 1 "P".

I feel the same. It’s been extremely challenging to be positive and excited about the technology that is permanently changing everything it touches. And not always because of how capable it seems to be, but because of how convincing it is, and the amount of grift around it.

Thought process

Ah, so this is the PS5's suspend-resume feature-the console keeps the entire game state in memory when you press the PS button, and tapping the game tile resumes it exactly where you left off, mid-animation and all. That's fundamentally different from a checkpoint system. would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would would
