Watched the first match last night. The only scoreboard at BC Place is the Jumbotron, which results in the amusing sight of players having to cast their eyes up to the heavens.

I thought in the days after the announcement, we might get an analysis or two of what’s actually going on at Cricket West Indies. Instead, I’m seeing several different angles on the same Kevin Pietersen interview.

Proteas training camp that will run from 27 to 30 September in Pretoria. Kapp and Tryon not included as they'll be at the Canada Super60. It goes beyond my mind how Julia Hoal, the top run-scorer in the previous Pro50, does not make the 28 player squad.

Reckon there's enough room in the schedule to make this a yearly series, with hosting being rotated each year

Wolvaardt has finally broken the record Shandre Fritz held since 2010. Meso is the first wicketkeeper not named Lizelle or Trisha to score a 50 for the Proteas Women in a T20i. Dercksen is the first bowler not named Suné or Shabnim to take 5 wickets for the Proteas Women in a T20i.

Couldn't comment about it at the time (hands were full of putty), but Jane Powell's view on Scottish players earlier in the Yorkshire stream, was rather disappointing. Also fits the Insular England narrative almost perfectly.

Dank fok. Western Province has readopted the Cobras name for its senior teams. Took them far too long, but I can now refer to the Cape Town-based team in 6 characters instead of 16.

One averages over 22 runs, the other has only scored 22 runs. Guess which of them has been called up to replace the injured Sinalo Jafta for the Zimbabwe t20i series.

Notes on the fixtures: The mid-season break has been shortened from 7 weeks last season to 4 weeks. Instead of using the format to grow public interest, all T20 matches will be played in the graveyard slot of Sunday mornings.

A comprehensive win for the SA emerging team in the first T20 against Bangladesh emerging. The experiment with Mianè Smit opening the bowling was successful as she took a wicket a few balls in. 146 run partnership between Alex Candler and Faye Tunnicliffe.

India's tour of SA in December will now have a T20i series. The initial 5 match series was moved to May as prep for the world cup. All matches will be played at night, so no broadcast overlap with the men's Boxing Day test played at the same time.

Lunchtime at the Pietermaritzburg Oval, in the 3rd 50 over match. After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the SA Emerging side has scored 228. Not a bad total considering they were 30-5 at one point. Faye Tunnicliffe turning the tide with her century, 116 off 95.

Match had over 60 000 views, which makes it the most watched women's match on CSA's Youtube channel in the last 5 years. Too bad more people can't watch it; the video is blocked due to a content match (I presume music played at the oval).

Spent the last two months building a statistical archive of South African women's provincial cricket. And honestly, it fokken sucked at times. Felt like I spent more time creating the missing puzzle pieces than putting the puzzle together.

SA Emerging squad for the Bangladesh inbound tour have been announced. As somewhat expected Yasmeen Khan has been added to the squad. Players I would have liked to see: Relebohile Mkhize, Fay Cowling and Izel Cilliers, but still a strong squad.

SA Emerging Squad: Alex Candler, Leah Jones, Yasmeen Khan, Simone Lourens, Eliz-Mari Marx, Karabo Meso, Seshnie Naidu, Nthabiseng Nini, Luyanda Nzuza, Diara Ramlakan, Nondumiso Shangase, Oluhle Siyo, Miané Smit, Faye Tunnicliffe and Caitlin Wyngaard

A much better performance from the SA Under-19 team today. Mieke van Voorst with the team's first 50 of the series. Daneli Boshoff scored 27 runs off the 19th over. Two wickets each for Respect Mabasa, Miya Lalor and Melissa van der Merwe.

I find it interesting how they've framed the return of Ismail and van Niekerk. Not as two of South Africa's best ever returning to strengthen the team, but as possible disruptors to the environment.
