But that’s what I bought myself for Christmas! If you haven’t treated yourself this holiday season, go for it! Hope everyone has had a good Christmas and happy holidays. And for those who’ve had a shitty year I hope next year will be better for you. The world fucking sucks but you’re not alone ✌️

Steam Winter Sale 2025: Haul Two Along with Haul One I haven’t touched any of these but goddamn I’m so excited I’m gonna try and play some of these this weekend! If anyone sees any they’ve played from both of my hauls, tell me your thoughts!

Wenzel’s Essentials @wenzelsessentials.bsky.social · 26/12/2025

Now on to what I bought from the Steam Winter Sale 2025: Haul One I tried to get cheaper and lesser known ones and I’ve been really fascinated with Oddworld recently and that was the last one I needed. Ace Combat was stupid cheap and with a new one coming it got me hyped.

7. LOTTO (2025) by They Are Gutting a Body of Water Did not realize this was also shoegaze because this was another blind buy for me. An angsty and harsh sound to this project and understandably so! Enjoyed this and it’s a quick listen as well! Fav song: american food

Wenzel’s Essentials @wenzelsessentials.bsky.social · 26/12/2025

6. Raspberry Moon (2025) by Hotline TNT This was a blind buy because I had seen it everywhere but hadn’t listened to it. Conclusion: I dig it! Shoegaze has always been kinda an easy listening genre for me and I really enjoyed the fuzz and distortion of this! Fav song: Break Right

5. Lonely People With Power (2025) by Deafheaven !!!ACROSS THE VAST WILDS OF TIME!!! I LAID THE GRAIN DOWN THE COASTLINE!!! Up there in my Top 10 albums this year. Such an emotionally intense album with a pristine sound that forced me to stop what I was doing and listen. Fav song: Doberman

Wenzel’s Essentials @wenzelsessentials.bsky.social · 26/12/2025

4. Pirouette (2025) by Model/Actriz A hard and sensual album that evokes prima donna energy and I love it. An easy Top 10 album that I had a great time listening to when it first released. Fav song: Cinderella

Wenzel’s Essentials @wenzelsessentials.bsky.social · 26/12/2025

3. Tranquilizer (2025) by Oneohtrix Point Never Easy listening, liminal space music is my best description for this. It’s great. Fav song: it kind of all runs together so I can’t really pinpoint a specific song which isn’t a bad thing! It’s an experience that I just can’t tie to a single song.

2. Alpha Zulu (2022) by Phoenix I loved this album when it came out and I still love it now especially during winter which is why it’s on my current CD rotation. Fav song: Winter Solstice

1. Comfort To Me (2021) by Amyl and The Sniffers I really got into them last year and this might be my favorite album of theirs??? Love the art as well and since getting back into collecting CDs this year I knew I needed this physically at some point. Fav song: Hertz

Got home from a nice weekend vacation earlier today and had two CDs waiting for me so I grabbed a Sapporo beer on the way back so I can end my night with a drink and music.

but also a bittersweet feeling at how much I loved that movie and the crushing realization that that was 4 months ago and the year is almost over. And I have done nothing that I originally set out to do on here. FUCK.

The radio station at work just played Golden from KPop Demon Hunters (which I’ve honestly been waiting for for awhile since it got so popular) and a flurry of emotions just hit me at once. Partly because the vocals are so beautiful and it always gives me goosebumps

Tuesday 10/07/2025: Also bought Wednesday’s new album Bleeds on CD as a blind buy since having read it being described as “country shoegaze” and that had me very interested. Currently listening to it as I wait for stuff to install on my Steam Deck and so far very accurate and very good!

Watched Ep 7 of Peacemaker Season 2 and holy fuck. Vigilante has been my favorite character throughout the show but this episode just solidifies it. He’s so goddamn funny that I honestly forget how competent of a fighter he is because when he pops off HE POPS OFF. This season has been incredible 🔥

1/3 of Demon Slayer’s final arc is watched! It was FUCKING INSANE. Akaza had such a valid villain crash out. I knew buying this figure was wise but that backstory holy shit.

About to watch the first Demon Slayer movie of this final arc!!! One of my most anticipated this year and my September film pick! I am (not) ready!!! Such a big year for franchise releases but this one feels like an era coming to an end.

I’ve barely even had time to process this past week that we were getting more JJK but I’m so pumped! I’m glad Akutami is strictly writing and Yuji Iwasaki is illustrating because it was very clear that doing both was having a significant negative effect on Akutami. Love the art of this guy already!

Absolutely loved it and it’s definitely one of the best horror films this year. Great performances with a perfect blend of horror and humor and an ending that was PERPEKTO. It had a sequence I’d been patiently waiting for and they delivered holy shit. Cregger is 2 for 2.

Dogra Magra also comes with extras just like Criterion and an alternate cover that I think is the original cover art? I swapped it to that because it looks really good.

Wenzel’s Essentials @wenzelsessentials.bsky.social · 08/07/2025

Had never seen Seven Samurai but watched it immediately and I get it. I understand why it’s one of the greatest films of all time. Completely balanced in its humor and emotion along with having deep philosophical elements. 5 out of 5/10 out of 10 I can’t stop thinking about it.

Got two early birthday gifts last Friday! B&N is not only having a Criterion sale but they’re having a “Cult Classics” sale which includes Radiance and Indicator films. Picked up Dogra Magra because it sounded interesting and it’s from Toshio Matsumoto who also directed Funeral Parade of Roses

Went to 2NC and picked up a sick little haul. This Hedwig Criterion was only $12??? Sealed and never opened which is crazy but I’ll take it. Embroideries and Sense & Sensibility were both $2 and two works I’ve been tempted to buy for about a month and I was lucky enough to find them used.
