1/ [PREPRINT] How is the lateral PFC organized to support cognition? Using precision fMRI, we show adjacent PFC regions support opposing functions, predicted by embedding in distinct networks across 3 cohorts (N=37). This could inform TMS treatment targets. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

📣 New study out today! We show that the brain's language network stays remarkably stable with age — same topography, lateralization, selectivity and connectivity as in younger adults — while the domain-general multiple demand network showed altered activity patterns. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Preserved topography, lateralization, selectivity, and functional connectivity of the language network in older brains - Nature Communications
Here, the authors show that aging affects brain networks differently, with neural changes mirroring the preservation or decline of the cognitive functions they support. The multiple demand network exh...

📣 New preprint: Multiple Nested Distributed Language Networks in the Human Brain. 📣 Brain regions specialized for language have been extensively described. But are they organized into one network, or multiple? Our new preprint provides evidence for the latter:

Multiple Nested Distributed Language Networks in the Human Brain
Brain regions specialized for language have been extensively described, yet their arrangement into one or multiple networks remains debated. Using precision functional mapping across three independent...

Old-New Recognition Memory Revisited
Identifying old items during recognition memory tasks elicits widespread cortical responses. Recent results suggest that a distributed network, labeled the Parietal Memory Network (PMN), responds to o...

Aperiodic exponent from intracranial recordings very accurately predicts depressive symptoms in epilepsy patients. Great work from Mark Libowitz in Ben Shofty’s lab. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Increased Aperiodic Exponents Track Depression Symptom Severity
Roughly one-third of patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) fail to respond to standard treatments and develop treatment-resistant MDD. For these patients, alternative therapies ofer additional...
