WARNING: If your instincts are whispering…𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙣. There’s a reason Nora Roberts is the “Queen of Romance”! Anyone who can write this much suspense into a stalky, obsessive tale and still build a genuine love story deserves the crown. 👑 ➡️ Synopsis and all my 💭thoughts💭 are in the photos ➡️

❤️‍🩹📦 𝐵𝑜𝑜𝓀 𝑅𝑒𝓋𝒾𝑒𝓌 📦❤️‍🩹 Four female hostages. One armed, drunk, angry man. Many changed lives. Need a break from the fluff but still want the feels? This book has some tough topics but is easy to read and leaves you feeling way more hopeful that you’d expect, given the set-up.

Haha, same - it’s my borrowed and ARC books that always make it to the top of the pile. The poor little ones I own stand on the shelf and wave to get my attention. 😂

Historical fiction is my favorite for the same reason. Ashamed to confess I pre-ordered this book...but still haven't read it. 🫣 I did, however, pull it from my shelf yesterday and add it to Mt. Must Read on my table!

Fall is my favorite, and my bookshelves seem to reflect that - I had so many fall-colored covers that didn't fit in the photo 😂). Today I'll be wearing jeans and a full-on sweater, and I just can't tell you how excited I am (it's the little things, friends!). #SweaterWeatherIsBetterWeather 🍁
A stack of autumn-themed books arranged in two towers surrounded by fall decorations including orange and yellow artificial leaves, small pumpkins, pinecones, and gourds on a cream knit blanket. The books feature warm-toned spines in shades of red, orange, yellow, and brown. Visible titles include 'The Churchyard Mysteri' at the top, 'Wolf Hall' by Hilary Mantel, 'Shelterwood' by Lisa Wingate, 'The Briar Club' by Kate Quinn, 'Where the Crawdads Sing', 'The Women' by Kristin Hannah, and 'The Secret Hours' by Mick Herron among others.

...guess which list that Italian adventure was moved to? Any book set in Italy adds more stops than I can count to my literary travel bucket list - that’s why I chose this one as the first Words On Location destination! The setting itself is a character in the story...🧵

We did make it to Italy in 2019, but not to the Amalfi Coast — not yet! Sometimes that dream trip sits in the “Maybe One Day” file, but occasionally it gets moved to the top of the “Let’s Make This Happen!” list. After I read “One Italian Summer” a couple of years ago... 🧵

They say books can take you places without ever leaving home, and they’re not wrong. 🗺 Twenty-two years ago I read “Red Sails to Capri” to my 6-year-old, and we promised each other we’d go there together one day. 🧵

Coincidently, the book I picked up after this one, Kate & Frida, was also largely centered around the same war. I’ve learned a lot this week! 🧵

I’m not a huge fan of books about revenge, and while I can’t say I “enjoyed” reading this (it wasn’t a feel good experience — like I said, heartbreaking), it was worth it. I’m embarassed to realize how little I knew about this horrible war and it’s aftermath. 🧵

And now, with someone else Hana loves in the crosshairs of her past, she must once again become the frightening legend she left behind all those years ago — the deadly Night Mora. I went into this book knowing less than I realized about the Bosnian War, and reading this story was heartbreaking. 🧵

Hana Babić is a quiet, middle aged librarian known as “the sweater lady” in Minnesota. Teenage Nura Divjak became a Bosnian warrior after watching Serbian soldiers brutally murder her family. Hana and Nura are the same person. 🧵

First things first — do not be fooled by the cover. We’re all familiar with the current historical fiction cover trend: a woman facing away from the reader (𝘸𝘩𝘺??). It gives a…what’s the word — 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥? 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘺? 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦?…impression. This book is none of those things. This is a book about revenge. 🧵
The book THE QUIET LIBRARIAN is standing on a stack of other books in a basket.

When I was 10, I moved thousands of miles away from my small town home. My biggest worry was all the unread Nancy Drew books in my local library I wouldn’t be able to finish. I still remember the look on my librarian’s face... 🧵 1/3 📚💙

Trump says libraries are unnecessary. We disagree. This latest executive order fires 75 federal employees and ends funding for 125,000 libraries that serve more than 1.2 billion patrons in person and even more online. Here are 7 things you can do right now 🧵 #wewillnotbesilent #showupforlibraries
Show up for libraries - 7 things you can do right now:
1. Walk into your local library and ask a librarian how you can help.
2. Attend the next library, school board, or city council meeting to express your support for libraries.
3. Run for office or support local politicians who are standing up for your rights.
4. Apply for a library card if you don’t have one already and USE it.
5. Join your local Friends of the Library organization.
6. Take to the streets! Gather friends and family and wave signs of support outside your local library.
7. Spread the word! Tell any non-believers that this is happening. This administration is taking away things that ALL parties previously agreed were good for society: libraries, cancer research, feeding children, caring for veterans. We do not accept it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this ride through history: 1613 Scotland and England and all the treachery that brings, quiet heroes, strong heroines, all with just enough of a love story to keep it sweet without overpowering the interesting history. 🧵 #TheKingsMessenger 💙📚 ⏳📚
