I tried the "I've been sober for 3 years" yesterday at Honeysuckle when I was offered alcohol, but nobody said oh sorry for offering you a drink. They still asked me to drink something small. I'll give it more tries before I decide whether or not to go back to "no, I don't drink".

Almost 30 years ago, I cut off all contact with my father. Today, I found out that he has died - was drunk, fell, and hit his head on a marble fireplace. I've never felt such relief in my life. No need to worry he'll show up at my kids' school with a gun. Here's an email he sent me a few years ago.
