Reading some material for my Women, Gender, and Sexuality course, and this is incredible. We're really just recycling the same observations and conversations ad infinitum on the left, aren't we? I guess, more accurately, we're broaching topics that Black feminists caught onto decades ago, but still.

Haven't really mentioned this on any social media yet, but I'm finally going back to college this year. Definitely worried about feeling a little out of place as a 31-year-old in undergrad courses, but I want to finally get a degree now that I have a much better idea of what I want to pursue.

Critics pick up on the intentional commentary Hazbin and Helluva make and the questions they raise, and then act like it’s all just a fluke that won’t be addressed again. The flaws in the system within the setting don’t stop being intentional just because the story doesn’t address them immediately.

You do not have to like VivziePop, but acting like the Hellverse's success is somehow despite it being her creation rather than because of it is insane. She is a writer on all but ONE of the most popular episodes of BOTH series. The characters are strongest when she's the one behind the wheel.

Whoops, kinda 1CC'd Touhou 6 Classic on Normal lol. I got it on Switch for the novelty, so I'm still trying to get used to using a controller instead of keyboard. I also haven't touched EoSD in about two years, so I didn't expect to clear it in just a few hours. Touhou on console is fun, though :)

Overall, MoF Extra was definitely fun, but I think the stage part was bit tedious to get through. There was just way too much streaming, and I kind of wish maybe Suwako's first and second card had been switched since the first takes such a long time to get through, and that compounds the tedium.

It's been a while since I've played an Extra tbh, but most of Suwako's Spell Cards felt so gimmicky lol. A lot of the time, it felt like I was figuring out a puzzle solution rather than handling any sort of really complex dodging. She had some regular Spell Cards, too of course, though.

Finally cleared Touhou 10 Mountain of Faith's Extra. I've only been doing attempts for the past four days or so, but I'd tried 1CCing Normal on MoF a bunch around fifteen years ago and just could not. Decided to pick it up again six days ago, and I was able to get both that 1CC and Extra clear :)

So it could be that, as Samus taps more into the abilities her Metroid DNA has bestowed upon her, she finds that through those abilities, she can access memories from the X Parasites she has absorbed, and perhaps that starts with one of Quiet Robe's.

This has probably been mentioned elsewhere, but... (Spoilers for Metroid Dread) The cutscene with Raven Beak in the Metroid Ravenous trailer is likely Samus tapping into Quiet Robe's memories of Raven Beak's arrival on SR388 through the X-parasite she absorbed at the end of Dread.

My family was on a trip to Florida, and our plane had to land prematurely in Atlanta. My dad was rushing to all the TVs to figure out what was happening. The reason the one on Popstar wasn't initially found was simply because the settlement took up an otherwise remote area of Popstar, and with the denizens of Popstar typically being pretty carefree and unbothered, those who did run into it simply accepted the boundary and gave it no further thought.

Getting the feeling that Fusion, Dread, and Ravenous are all intended to be part of the same story arc for Samus. Fusion starts with her as the disempowered and hunted, Dread has her become the hunter and reject any control exerted on her by others, and Ravenous has her relishing in that new power.

New companion is super cute, too!

And I know that's a little silly of me to say with TP as my number 3, but I do think TP at the very least knocked it out of the park with most of the standard Zelda tropes it was treading. If there was one "traditional Zelda" I'd point newcomers to, it would 100% be TP.

Tbh, aside from my four picks, WW, and maybe OoA, I wouldn't put any Zelda games higher than just "good." I love LoZ, but I feel it tends to undermine itself by too often seeking to repeat formulas that were successful in the past even though its strongest entries are the ones that break new ground.

Between its consistently worse sales historically when compared to OoT's, its comparatively lower degree of significance to Nintendo, and Aonuma's overall dismissive and avoidant attitude toward it, I personally can't see them wanting to put that same level of effort toward remaking it.

We also know from Iwata Asks that Majora's Mask 3D's development didn't even start until after OoT 3D had been released. A Majora remake was never in any sort of serious consideration during OoT 3D's development. Aonuma also mentions preferring to leave Majora in the past in that same interview.

While I know some people see OoT and Majora's Mask as a package deal, I'm not sure that's the case internally within Nintendo. I tend to get the sense that OoT is often brought up as a point of contrast when Majora is being featured, but when OoT is the subject, Majora usually goes unmentioned.

Plus, there is the possible concern of the S2's public perception to consider. A Majora remake would be the third N64 remake released on Nintendo's current flagship console, and I feel there's a sizable risk there of the S2 developing a stigma of being the nostalgia cash-in console.

I personally don't think a Majora's Mask S2 remake is anywhere near guaranteed. Majora's releases sell roughly half of OoT's equivalent releases, and I'd imagine even with asset re-use, recreating Majora at this level of fidelity would still be pretty time-consuming and expensive.

I say this as someone who was pretty happy with the 3DS remake, despite some of those weirder changes. If they do end up doing a Majora remake, I'll be happy of course since it is my favorite game, but I'd have tempered expectations with how difficult it'll be to recapture that same atmosphere.

I'm torn on whether I want to see a Majora's Mask remake in this style or not. Majora is one of the few games where I think the N64 visuals fit its atmosphere very well, and the execution is so tight that it really needs no adjustments. On the other hand, the whole Moon sequence in this style....

Weird millennial opinion: Uncanny character design in Zelda is a good thing, and I was really happy to see that effort was clearly put toward preserving that aspect of OoT in the remake. It'd be a lot easier to simply have just prettied up all the character designs. I'm glad they chose not to.

Dialect stuff is funny because while I lived most of my life in the suburbs in the South, I was completely neglected socially, so mine ended up being a mix of the dialects commonly seen in television and movies and whatever dialects were prevalent among Nintendo Let's Players in the mid-late 2000s.
