I needed something to help me push through pain and somehow relax last night, so I drew this whole thing with one long line. Started in the bottom left corner and finished in the top right.
White square filled with a very long, intricate squiggly purple line. It took hours to draw.

I let that take me into neurographic drawing tonight. This isn't the time to end up yelling, "Why can't I just draw a TREE?!"

I made sure I took one more picture of the baby fig tree before leaves fall and they go through their first winter.

The oldest leaves on my dwarf lotus plant are turning brown, but new green leaves are still opening every few days. If the plant survives us moving, we'll go through our first winter together. If it doesn't... well, I learned a lot this year and will start again next year.

I'm thankful the hexagons have been my big knitting project. They're perfect for this time of chaos. They don't take long, so I can still do one when I have very little time, and my hands know what to do even when my brain feels fried.

BIG thanks to everyone who has ever posted tutorials of tuning a kalimba on the Internet! I knew a few notes needed tuning, but the hammer scared me. I wouldn't have tried without the tutorials. Everything is in tune again now!

I'm not doing the weekly tarot reading this week, but I do have some plant pictures to share! My bonsai lantana and my lotus plants.
Close up of a cluster of little lantana flowers blooming. The flowers of the outer ring are red, then shift to rings of orange and yellow as you move to the center.A bonsai lantana in a six inch clay pot. Some flower clusters are starting to bloom yellow flowers. Other clusters haven't opened yet, but are starting to show yellow and red color as they get closer to blooming. Top-down view of a pot filled with water. There are lotus vines weaving up through the water, five dwarf lotus leaves - each around 2 or 3 inches wide - and 3 vines going off in different directions that haven't opened the leaves at their tips yet.

Took a break from sorting and packing to sit with plants a while. Still using the "let the lotuses do what they do and learn from them" approach with this pot.
A top-down view of a pot filled with water, mud in the bottom, and lotus stems from three seeds growing all over the place. The water is so clear that stems that haven't broken the surface of the water yet and roots that haven't dug their way into the mud can be seen.

I'm one of the two clumsiest people I've ever known. The only reason I'm not The Clumsiest is because I'm tied with the other person for the top spot. Doing this took a lot of focus and patience. It'll get easier with practice.Today,I needed something rewarding to put that focus into for a while.

Here are the three I've made before. None as as smooth and shiny as I'm working toward, but each has been a worthy experience.

A texture issue with my dorodango became a shape issue, and I've been slowly working to rebuild a big area. Breaking it down and starting over would be faster and easier, but "faat and easy" isn't the reason I do it.

It doesn't look much different today, but this is a slow process. It is a little rounder and smoother. I've tried various glass and metal objects for working the surface, but the thing that works best for me at this stage is the opening of a plastic pill bottle.

It's been a while since I last made a dorodango, and that's something that helps give me thinking space when I'm working things out for a story. I use a slower method for making them. There will be mudball updates.

I don't know what's going wrong with my lotus plant. I wondered if I moved it into the pot too early, and that got me thinking about how I don't usually start plants in just water because roots grow so delicately that way and can have trouble adjusting to soil. So I'm dropping a new seed in.

My thoughts on the "autistic people will never write a poem" bs.
I don't write poems.

I just
repeat what the
water tells me. I keep
secrets the rocks whisper. Laugh at
bird jokes.

Listen
when the night air
carries a song from the
stars. Thank the grasshoppers for their
greetings.
Let my hands read the stories the
soil has held for so long.
Try to pass them
to you.

But no,
definitely
no poems have ever
been written by me. Why would you
think that?

I'm terrible at estimating things. It's part of my dyscalculia. I measure things when it's important, I swear! I've been telling everyone the wrong height for the baby fig tree. The spread of leaves is getting wide, but the height is more like one foot than "somewhere between two and three feet".
