Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 12/05/2025To London for 2 days @thekingsfund.bsky.social with the voluntary sector award winners. Seriously impressive leaders. Can’t wait to meet them. 010
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 21/04/2025A spring bouquet from ma belle-sœur to cheer me up. Job done. 010
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 10/04/2025I’m convinced one of these is an April Fool. Or maybe all of them? 000
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 09/04/2025Library books for the holidays. The top one’s mine, the Vonnegut his, the rest? Doesn’t matter. 3 each and we can swap. 010
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 08/04/2025To Scunthorpe & a reminder that the NHS isn’t alone in facing massive uncertainty. We need collaboration more than ever, to support each other through challenging times. There’s real energy & commitment here & passion for the place and the people. I’m looking forward to getting to know both 010
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 02/04/2025Yesterday was full of light & family & spring. We saw a sign in the sky, walked 7 miles, ate ice lollies…I managed to fit in 2 meetings and blood tests at RLI. 010
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 31/03/2025If you couldn’t stay in the UK - because of war, societal collapse, political fear - where would you try to get to? Why? 000
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 30/03/202550th Mothers Day without a mother. School used to be tough - these days I remember her on walks in the high hills which she loved. Love to all who find today difficult ❤️ 2262
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 09/03/2025Spring blinks, rubs its eyes, stretches, yawns, puts on new clothes, sings a song of hope. 000
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 09/03/2025Beautiful day with the girls, climbing trees, skimming stones, ice cream on the way home 010
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 27/02/2025Didn’t open the window so’s not to startle them. So beautiful. 000
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 25/02/2025This is more true when you’re trying to think in a language not your own. I have just had a conversation with my French neighbour about the fence that divides our land & his peacocks who don’t care for fences. No English, no Google translate. I got a lot wrong, but we managed. 000
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 19/01/2025To Birk Bank quarry for a 4 mile walk; came back with bright red face (Billy) and a hypo (me) so hurray for emergency snickers. Forgot to take pics. Fab photo from commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Di... 000
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 05/01/2025Xmas decorations packed away in the store, tree waiting for collection, new diary filling up, stall restocked, snow falling quietly, sitting down with my book. 020
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 04/01/20255 years ago. Vivaldi by candlelight at Manchester Cathedral. Such a beautiful way to end the holidays 000
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 30/12/2024“Some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again” (C.S. Lewis). A present from my son, who knows me well. 010
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 29/12/2024Because I have nothing to do today, my body has decided it’s a good day for pain. Everything hurts. So I’m going to trick it by making plans to do stuff: cleaning out the kitchen cupboards for starters. Getting up is sometimes a triumph. 030
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 27/12/20247 mile walk on the Tolkien Trail in the mist. “Not all those who wander are lost” 230
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 27/12/2024Because there’s nothing like spreading Christmas cheer (and these are nothing like…) 000
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 25/12/2024Lovely day - stockings, food prep, walk, presents, dinner, food coma, tv and so to bed. Enough books to set up a library, so we’re all happy. Merry Christmas from my family to yours xx 230
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 24/12/2024Time to cut the cake. Stanley is in place; his sweetheart Desirée has disappeared 040
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 24/12/2024No no no. There shouldn’t be a door 25 should there? Today being the last day of advent. 110
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 23/12/2024Tomorrow we’re going to see It’s a Wonderful Life and then going to buy the bird. Has anyone else left it this late to get a turkey? Feeling slightly nervous 120
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 22/12/2024She branded the Duchess of York a “trollop”, Margaret Thatcher “cheap”. One of her tips for cooking a goose was: “Think of someone you do not like, take a fork and stab it viciously all over.” Her banana candle is a triumph (see pic). A heartless cow but she had her moments. 100
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 21/12/2024On Fanny Cradock Christmas cookery show the food looked frankly inedible- whipped cream with green colouring studded with glacé cherries, candied ginger. A chicken attacked with secateurs. And then she said “Christmas basically means slave labour for the housewife” and it turns out she was alright. 110
Weirb @weirb.bsky.social · 20/12/2024In a week which saw Sara Sharif’s murderers sentenced and Gisèle Pelicot’s rapists convicted and a woman killed every 10 minutes by a partner or close relative I’m beginning to think Greer was right. 120
