To Scunthorpe & a reminder that the NHS isn’t alone in facing massive uncertainty. We need collaboration more than ever, to support each other through challenging times. There’s real energy & commitment here & passion for the place and the people. I’m looking forward to getting to know both

To the theatre and wondering about etiquette- does one wear the tiara or the #LFC scarf? The 2nd-best tiara I’ve decided- it’s a matinee after all.

Today with leaders in NLincs, piloting a model for INT development and we’re starting with action learning. Is it the best method to translate learning into action that supports change? My former coach #johnburgoyne thought so. He taught me a lot.

The state needs to work for everyone- children, pensioners, disabled and sick people. Most have paid or will pay taxes and are entitled to a state that values them.

So many beautiful songs & magical to hear them sung live. This song by Karine Polwart had huge resonance for me (ie made me cry). My scars will never truly heal but I am here, and I’m still growing.

This is more true when you’re trying to think in a language not your own. I have just had a conversation with my French neighbour about the fence that divides our land & his peacocks who don’t care for fences. No English, no Google translate. I got a lot wrong, but we managed.

Can we afford to wait years for a report on what’s needed to reform social care? There are no easy solutions but we know what works: it’s systemic, joined-up, focused on people, preventative, integrated, locally-driven as opp to top-down. Great example here from Adam Lent @thekingsfund.bsky.social

How one council cut its social care waiting list by 80% by ‘doing with’ rather than ‘doing to’.
Take a good look at this graph. It’s pretty jaw-dropping - but in a good way.
