These two WSJ articles on the same day are a reminder that much of the American press heartily approves of the broad openly white supremacist direction of travel and merely wishes the Trump administration would be a little less brazen about looting the state in the process.
WSJ article dated Oct 7: 'Honey Please': Kimberly Guilfoyle Pushed Donor to Wire $100,000 to Her Amex AccountWSJ opinion dated Oct 7: We're Winning the War on Woke

The Trump administration has completed several battles, but plenty of work remains.

I've just emerged blinking from an exhaustive chronicle of the cosmic horrors perpetrated by Chairman Mao, but it has taken only one (1) news item to make me think, "Actually no, it's worth going through all that to make sure we wipe out this interbred parasitic political/media class once & for all"
Private Eye news item:

GET UP AND GOVE

Appearing on a Daily Mail podcast along with his father Michael Gove in April last year, Will Gove claimed that his parents' fame - his mother is Mail columnist Sarah Vine – had both helped and hindered his own life, complaining that he had been rejected from no fewer than three pint-pulling jobs because of his surname.

Good news! That search for gainful employment is now over, for who should now have started as a hack at the Daily Mail - the very paper which has published his mother's column for the past thirteen years – but 21-year-old Will Gove, who has already enjoyed several bylines in the sports section.

Gove's arrival was something of a mystery to hacks, given that another young journalist who had recently completed the paper's graduate training scheme had been granted a permanent role on the sports desk this summer, only to have the offer suddenly rescinded by the managing editor on the grounds that there was apparently no space for him. Thankfully, the issue appeared to have been resolved in time for Gove Jr's arrival a week later.

The only bad thing that I'm prepared to countenance happening regarding this technology is Sam Altman being woodchippered into a fine pulp and sprayed over the assembled ranks of everyone who ever uncritically reported his lies.
In an exclusive interview with POLITICO Decoded, the new daily global technology newsletter and podcast that launches tomorrow, Altman says: “We believe that the world should accept some bad things happening for the benefits of this technology and people having the agency.”

Glad to see the arcade still has the old Dickpuncher machine. Happy memories.
Photo of a coin-op test-your-strength machine. The name is printed across the cylindrical top of the machine so the start and end of it are not visible from the front, so all that's legible is "ICKPUNCHE". It's perfectly clear to me what this must say, and obviously no other non-dick-related word can possibly be inferred, I will not be taking questions at this time

Benign neglect (or cowering fear, who cares at this point) of these wannabe pogroms - and the delirious contrast with how readily they slap the "terrorist" label on people who obviously aren't - defines this Labour government in a way that no amount of "leftwing" economic tinkering ever could.

This assertion in '22 by the director of BBC editorial policy & standards, combined with its private decision to flatter Farage voters, suggests any BBC agnosticism is actually pretty malleable if the belief is touted belligerently enough (and elides with what posh idiots were thinking anyway)
Speaking during a Lords communications and digital committee, Jordan said: “Flat Earthers are not going to get as much space as people who believe that the Earth is round, but very occasionally, it might be appropriate to interview a flat Earther, and if a lot of people believed in a flat Earth, [then] we would need to address it more than we do at the present time.”

Even a stopped clock on fire in a bath full of pigshit tells the right time twice a day.
Excerpt from Reuters article:

WASHINGTON, Sept 15 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump lashed out on Tuesday at his own Supreme Court appointees a day after the top U.S. judicial body declined to allow a U.S. Postal Service rule restricting the use of mail-in ballots in the November midterm elections in his latest acidic criticism of the court after an unfavorable ruling.

"This Supreme Court is bullied and cajoled by the Radical Left into making decisions that have set America back at least a hundred years," Trump wrote on social media.

"These are not the people I interviewed to serve on the United States Supreme Court, they are merely a shell of their original selves," Trump continued on Truth Social, without naming any of the justices.

[Next bit clumsily highlighted in shitty photos app]: "It is a Court that will go down as having rendered some of the most destructive, hurtful, and damaging decisions in our Country's history."

More angry men getting exercised about savings, outside a kind of Buckingham Palace and in a form of Parliament Square respectively. (I'm assuming all these people are cousins, by the way)
GenAI image of an angry man berating the camera outside a dream-logic Buckingham Palace, with a union flag flying prominently behind him. The ad, apparently for MoneySuperMarket, says "Smart Brits Are Moving To This Account For Their Savings Before Deadline"GenAI image of an even angrier man letting rip to the camera outside a non-insane but still wrong version of Parliament, with (of course) a union flag flying prominently behind him and various police keeping order behind him as a crowd of people protest either imminent war or a savings rule change, it's really not clear.

Although written in 2018, this book couldn't be more relevant to the current moment. It paints a picture of those manning the commanding heights of British society - academia, media, politics, business - as utterly adrift and, at best, waiting to see what happens or, at worst, to be told what to do.

Kids growing up now are already immersed in a fucked-up hall of mirrors, but I wonder if one of the things they'll reminisce about is this era when adverts for the most innocuous things run with inappropriately urgent AI slop images that seem to depict various Britons facing imminent war.
A dodgy for some no doubt shitty or scammy product, claiming to be from "MoneySuperMarket" with the tagline "Smart Brits Are Moving To This Account For Their Savings Before Deadline".

The AI-generated shows a well-coiffed, late-middle-aged white guy, mid-speech in front of a mike, surrounded by buildings that those near Parliament, with a union flag hanging prominently behind him. What with that and AI's Zack Snyder-esque approach to colour grading and contrast, it looks like the man is grimly announcing "IT'S WAR"

Also, of course, there's the earlier attempt where not only do the names lack charm and wit but the editors seem to have presumed that American kids would be baffled or unsettled by the concept of "France":
An Asterix panel translated as "Little Fred and Big Ed"

Introductory text: When the mighty Roman army invaded Britain, their conquering forces were unable to subdue the little village of Nevergivup. There, thanks to a magic potion that gave them super-human strength, Little Fred, Big Ed and a few other Ancient Britons managed to repel the attackers. Pompus, the Roman commander, wanted to know what gave the Britons their terrific power and he was trying to smuggle a spy named Magnus into the village...

Obelix is saying "It's the enemy, Little Fred, and they've got a prisoner!" Asterix replies "Stand by to clobber 'em, Big Ed!" It's all wrong.

BBC story: Town 'overwhelmed' with memorial benches

Hartlepool Borough Council says the Headland has 115 memorial benches8 March 2026
A local authority has said it is currently not taking applications for memorial benches due to resident concerns there are too many.

Hartlepool Borough Council said it had carried out an audit in and around the town, which revealed Seaton Carew and the Headland were "overwhelmed" with seats.

In a report, it said this was such a problem that in some cases people could not walk between the benches as there were too many, while in other instances they obstructed access to wheelchairs and pushchairs.

A rare sighting of that most precious media resource: a sliver of context. Almost all outlets will take the far-right line on this quite mad immigrant influx - this is the sort of thing that happens all the time, we've been warning you - when actually it's very obviously a political provocation.
The Spanish interior ministry has just said that more than 49,000 people are believed to have swum or walked into Ceuta over the past 24 hours.

That, obviously is a huge number, and dwarves (sic) the 10,000 people who entered the territory during the border crisis in 2021.

[Highlighted:] That mass crossing came amid heightened tensions between Madrid and Rabat over Spain’s decision to allow a western Sahara independence leader to be treated for Covid-19 in Spain.
