Here we go again for #Hawaii. Hurricane #Nolo strengthening quickly. While landfall is not expected the Big Island will experience heavy rainfall along with the threat of flooding. Hurricane-force winds in high elevations. A tropical storm and #hurricane watch are in place. #wx

Sept. 10th is the statistical peak of the Atlantic #hurricane season. You are most likely to find a tropical cyclone somewhere in the Atlantic basin on this day. Not this year. El Niño continues to suppress activity in the Atlantic, but the Pacific continues to be highly active.

#Hurricane Warnings up for Ni’ihau & Kaua’i. #HurricaneLowell is expected to remain slightly west of Ni’ihau as it passes by Tue AM. #Hawaii rarely receives a direct landfall from hurricanes. Since 1871 only 11 storms have made landfall. The most powerful was Cat 4 #Iniki (1992).

Remnants of #Dolly have a low chance of reforming this week. Parts of the Greater Antilles to see periods of heavy rain & gusty winds regardless. Another area in the central Gulf also has a low chance of development. Land interaction will likely prevent much intensification. #wx
