My grandmother was named Trilby, after the eponymous heroine of George du Maurier's 1894 novel. She also had the middle name of Hulley.

My gt-gt-grandfather Caiaphas Nichols had siblings called Antiochus and Drusilla. Unfortunately, Antiochus died of TB at 22 as a private in Grenadier Guards, so his sister Drusilla named one of her sons after him. Still more unfortunately, her married name was Grimshaw…

My Great Grand Uncle Mazeppa Taylor born Ashton under Lyne 1857 died Aughton, Lancashire 1936. He had an elder brother Cornelius who died as a baby. Represented a break from centuries of biblical names. He and my Great Grandfather Albert married sisters Jane and Hannah Hadfield respectively.
