I know that @decassette.bsky.social has been dropping hints about this book for a while now, but it's our turn to officially announce that a brand new almost 200 page long one shot from Linnea Sterte will be out in November, and pre-orders are now up.

if you don't know what this means, continue on in blessed ignorance. i'm sure it will burn out quickly and your life will be better for its absence

maaan, nothing has made me feel "the internet was a mistake" harder than that vile hp+genderswap+loli shit. thankfully it's all happening outside of my bubble and i can just get turbo stoned to scrub it from my mind

stanton the GOAT! that flick is insanely gorgeous in particular too. i've also been watching low-mid budget japanese gangster flicks just for all the crazy character actors too. i need some freaks on the screen!

wc williams @wcwilliams.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

for basically this reason the last couple months i was watching pretty much only french flicks (90's-2000's) and american/british ones pre-70's. it was wall to wall character on the screen.

As always with the art I make for the ReadySketchGoLA figure drawing newsletter I both spent too much and not enough time on this.

Sketchy digital drawing of model Stephanie Inagaki with glowing eyes and wild hair, baring vampire fangs with blood around her mouth. She is wearing a white frilly collar. Poster reads "DRACULA'S BRIDE" in gothic script.

wc williams @wcwilliams.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

oh, i dunno. it helps when the ref pics have good lighting so you can see the car's body lines. lately i've had really good luck checking auction sites like "bring a trailer" cause some of those listings spend the money on s-tier photos. if i spot a car in the wild i try and take pics i wanna draw

110

wc williams @wcwilliams.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

thanks man. i've been checking auction sites like bring a trailer lately and some of those listing are so well shot you can have enough ref for an entire comic worth of "hero car" shots

Paper collage experiment

141

wc williams @wcwilliams.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

yeah, when i first glanced at it i assumed it was from the really bad harbor adaption and they were creditting mignola with "copyright" but nah, it was slop. i emailed the paper's editor and he actually replied and took down the slop immediately. so that's nice at least

010

wc williams @wcwilliams.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

oh nice! they took down the slop hellboy image. (thanks to steve at the mercury for responding to my email and taking care of it)

030

wc williams @wcwilliams.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

sent a polite email to the editor

110

wc williams @wcwilliams.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

oh wait, i found a contact email

010

wc williams @wcwilliams.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

looks like they (correctly) don't have a comment section and the only contact form i saw was to sigin up for their email updates

110

wc williams @wcwilliams.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

i just realized they still physically print the arts issue. if this made it to print i'm gonna lose it

110

wc williams @wcwilliams.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

yeah, this was done by someone who just clearly doesn't give a shit. like, i enjoy the portland mercury but it's never been a bastion of quality arts writing

110

wc williams @wcwilliams.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

it's soooooo stupid, lazy, and disrespectful. here, let's highlight portlands connection to the comic art form with missatributed slop to one of the most instantly recognized stylists of the genre!!!

I’m debuting a new painting in the exhibition: You Must Be Mistaken, 2026, gouache on hot pressed paper, 17×20” framed. I started it 10 years ago, tucked it away, and finally pulled it out to finish it this year.

Painting in greens, teals, and tans of two polygon figures facing off in a clearing in a forest. The larger, farther triangular polygon casts a huge shadow across the scene. The little house-shaped figure stands defiant against it, as echoes of itself tumble behind and cast their own shadows. Dark, mossy, bare tree branches reach toward them from around edges.

wc williams @wcwilliams.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

yo, that's not a mike mignola drawing of hellboy you used in the article. it looks like someone used ai slop in that art grid. pretty disrespectful

010

wc williams @wcwilliams.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

no, it absolutely is fucking not! come on people, you had one fucking job

screenshot of the portland mercury article "how portland became a player in the comic book industry" by corbin smith
there is a grid of comic art and i circled the dogshit ai hellboy and highlighted the incorrect atribution to mike mignola

oh great! is super easy and unlike most "15 min" recipes it really is that quick. nice thing too is after the first time you do it (or if you're missing an ingredient) it's easy to adjust to your taste. sometimes i want it really spicy and double up on that. it's pretty hard to fuck up completely

020

wc williams @wcwilliams.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

and i enjoy how few dishes it takes!

010

wc williams @wcwilliams.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

this is the first time i've added the lime. (only used half) a little bit in the mixing bowl and then a squeeze as a finishing touch on each portion. adds a nice brightness i love how easy the entire thing is. barely any dishes too

010

wc williams @wcwilliams.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

oh, i use a little less than a 1/3 cup of the boiling pasta water right before i strain the noodles

010

wc williams @wcwilliams.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

i like a more traditional chili crunch that is much spicier than the tj's stuff but it's been hard to find the real stuff that doesn't use soy lately. if you don't have a problem with soy, just double amount of a traditional chili crunch. so i add the sambal olec but gochujang can be swapped out too

020

wc williams @wcwilliams.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

recipe for 2 1-2 spring onion 2 bundles of noodles (or two ramen packs or spagetti) 1.5-2 tbsp peanut butter (i like chunky) 1.5-2 tbsp of chili crunch 1 tbsp of sabal olec ~ 1 tsp of sesame oil ~ 2 tsp of rice vinegar ~ 2 tsp of maggi (or soy) big dash of sesame seeds (lime squeeze is optional)

440

wc williams @wcwilliams.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

while the water boils i combine the ingredients in a bowl (saving some spring onion and lime for garnish) when the noodles are done i toss some of the pasta water in with this to combine before the noodles are added

all the ingredients from the first pic in this thread (except the sesame seeds i put in right adter taking this pic) in a metal bowl

looked at all the pics on my phone of strawberry donut yesterday and realized in the second one on here, lil man is taking a piss. dude just wanted to take care of business behind a bush but some creeper just had to film it to post online

you might be right. i'm hoping he knows where home is, cause i didn't see a collar under the donut and lil man did not give off more than a one brain cell vibe

i had a depressing psu farmer's market visit a couple weeks ago. the stand i was specifically went for (la hispanola) was taking the week off and the only produce place that had what i wanted had ai garbage signage so i left wmpty hamded. thankfully last week i got everything i needed

020

wc williams @wcwilliams.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

i watch a good deal of tv in the background while i draw (tho audiobooks are my no. 1 go-to) and i guess i wouldn't consider a show "really good" if it doesn't make me set down my tools and fully pay attention

010

wc williams @wcwilliams.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

haha. it probably wouldn't be that interesting. the biggest omission i noticed was not having Rome. haven't revisted it in ages (so not entirely sure in still holds up) but just the cast alone makes head and shoulders over 90% of that list
