During Latinx Heritage Month, we celebrate the rich history, culture, & contributions of Latinx and Hispanic communities. We also recognize that policymakers should take action to provide these communities w/ tangible support. One clear policy step: Expand the Child Tax Credit.

🏆Last fall DC decoupled from several H.R. 1 tax breaks—saving $658m in revenue in the next 5 years—and created a new, larger CTC worth $1k per child and increased its EITC to 100% of the federal credit.

New #RxKids paper in @thelancet.com this month found that babies born to moms in Flint, MI who got cash during pregnancy (& the year after birth) had lower risks of preterm birth, low birthweight, and NICU admits. Moms were also more likely to get adequate prenatal care.

No court has ever ruled on this question, so it’s not clear whose interpretation will win out. Meanwhile, D.C. tax filing season has already started so time’s ticking to resolve the issue – D.C. residents and businesses may need to refile D.C. tax forms if Congress is right

That’s a critical difference. Last week the D.C. Council Chairman posted a notice that the review period ended *before* the Senate secured final passage striking down D.C.’s tax law. If true, that would mean that D.C.’s law still stands lims.dccouncil.gov/downloads/LI...
