Observing the industry for the past 30 years is wild. Plenty of folks opposed and/or criticized SPAs from the jump (over a decade ago?) in very similar (if not the same) terms.

We are in a different moment, economically. Back then, earning user confidence was necessary to sell the product. And, in the world of dial-up, most people had multiple vendors to choose from. Nowadays, because of regulatory capture, one maybe has one or two broadband vendors available, and […]

The Open Graph title for this is misleading. This only happens in jurisdictions that still have the death penalty. So, no, it couldn't happen anywhere. Just places that are fucked up enough to still have the death penalty.

@Iconfactory I've been using Tapestry for a while (before 2.0), and I use it on iOS and macOS, which has some quirks, e.g.: On iOS, I use apps for Mastodon and Bluesky, so I've configured the feeds to use those apps…but those apps don't exist (or are not installed) on my macOS devices. So when […]

I logged in to LinkedIn to see a page full of people praising DHH, got mad, and wrote this. Less than 12 hours later I got an email telling me "Your post doesn’t comply with our Professional Community Policies on bullying and harassment. It’s been removed […] [Original post on mastodon.social]

A LinkedIn post from me that reads "DHH is openly a Nazi. You should not promote anything he is doing or relay his opinions on software development. It is shocking to me when I open this app and see people casually discussing his opinions on AI or interface design or whatever, as if he were a "thought leader". He is an open advocate for mass murder. It doesn't matter what else he thinks, do not promote his ideas." followed by the text "Only you can see this post because this content goes against our Professional Community Policies."

@glyph I see the output extruded with LLMs by enthusiastic supporters who have been eagerly using the tools to generate code for a couple of years now and…using it more does not cause the output to be good.

If you're the Executive Director of a major open source programming language's foundation, and *you* bring up "AI" at *your* event, it seems like table stakes to be willing to offer a thoughtful response to a question about the language's AI contribution policy rather than punting.

We use Natural Intelligence to build software libraries and applications in production today. Some of them you may be using right now.
