Look, there are days you don’t want to tuck and I respect that.

Oh, I also just finished Dimension 20’s City Council of Darkness, which definitely fits this ongoing list of shows.

The show is produced by Ben Shapiro’s Daily Wire, a right-wing rag.

Now I’m on Mike Flanagan’s Midnight Mass. Not at all what I was expecting. First three episodes down and I am definitely riveted.

Moved on to Beasts, another British anthology from ‘76. This one was… interesting. Definitely highs and lows, but ended with some quality creeps.

Every author you admire has sat looking at their screen page, unsure if the sentence in front of them was good enough. That uncertainty didn't disqualify them from finishing the book, and it doesn't disqualify you either.

After that, I watched through the Gothic anthology mini-series Supernatural, also from 1977. A pre-cursor to Are You Afraid of the Dark, each episode begins with a prospective member of the Club of the Damned hoping to gain membership by sharing a spooky story.

Continued on with my British viewing with Children of the Stones from 1977. A fascinating mini-series that feels like a mix of The Wicker Man and classic Doctor Who.

After Castle Rock, I moved on to the 2010 Dirk Gently series with Stephen Mangan and Darren Boyd, which feels a bit more in line with the books to me than the 2016 series.

Overall that was… disappointing… Maybe I’m just growing tired of AUs and revisionism, but other than Lizzy Caplan’s performance, that was a letdown. There was a lot of promise with not enough followthrough for my liking.

Returning to Castle Rock to finish it up and while I’m not a huge fan of all the timeline and story changes they made, Annie Wilkes straight up mercing Ace Merrill with a ice cream scoop in the first episode of Season 2 was pretty great.

How come none of you told me about Midnight, Texas? A show about a weird little supernatural town from the writer of True Blood? AND Sarah Ramos is in it!? I’m already on the last two episodes of the first season!

Now I’m doing a rewatch of The Dresden Files. I know book fans don’t care for it, but I found the show first and actually enjoy it for what it is. I’m just getting started with the books, having only read Storm Front so far.

From there, I moved on to Lovecraft Country, which takes some big swings, and even though it sets up to continue without a certain problematic individual, I’m kinda glad it was a one-and-done. (And I was NOT expecting the Christina/William reveal!)

Moved on to season one of Castle Rock, which was interesting, and definitely took some concepts from Haven for its big twist. Didn’t really care for this interpretation of Alan Pangborn, even though Scott Glenn did a magnificent job, as always.

I think the biggest problem with the 2005 Night Stalker is the lack of resolutions at the end of most episodes. They come to a conclusion, the case solved, but there’s rarely an explanation of what the episode’s monster actually is. The original Kolchak, Supernatural, the X-Files; they all did.

I've had to unfriend a few fans lately, all for the same reason. They made ridiculing, unkind, and in some cases outright cruel comments about pictures I posted of young women cosplaying Jessica.
More than a person, Jessica is a state of mind. To play Jessica, you need self -confidence, a sense of humor, and a Jessican -attitude-. There is no such thing as a Jessica cosplayer being too short, too flat chested, too heavy, too thin, too unattractive, too black, too Asian, or even too male!!! All Jessica, any Jessica, every Jessica is good Jessica.
I'm not giving any warnings or second chances. A single disparaging comment on a Jessica cosplayer, and I'm throwing you out of the rainbow colored Toontown Tent.

Also, I was trying to place the FBI agent who has it in for this version of Kolchak from the pilot episode. I finally had to look him up and realize it’s John Pyper-Ferguson. I never recognize him without facial hair and using his normal voice. See, I know him best as Pete Hutter.

I’m now on the Night Stalker reboot from 2005. I’d say they were trying too hard to be Supernatural, but both shows started at the same time.
