Earth X really did a number on my expectations for this character. Genuinely thought he was one of the major players in the Marvel Universe. And yet, the Earth X remains the single appearance of his I have ever read.

They're less "meta" like these Star Trek episodes, but they do tackle the celebrity of being a creator/storyteller across different media. The third book especially is very meta Star Treky. I don't wanna spoil too much and it's been a while, but I think you'd dig 'em.

Every single time I went to our favorite shop my ex would by the latest TPB of Lumberjanes. And every single time the cashier would say, "If you like Lumberjanes, you should check out Princeless." It was annoying as fuck but we need more of it.

Revisiting Digimon Adventure tri. ten years later feels very weird because it is itself revisiting a series years later. Nostalgia for something nostalgic? Idk. It's got cute character moments and flashy fight scenes held together by a plot that'll make your eyes bleed on a good day. 8/10

A large bearded pirate (Captain Toadwad) is using the blade that is in place of his left arm to cut a cake that Preston (the Graphic designer) is decorating poorly. Preston says "This is not what graphic designers do... or pirates." Toadwad says "nonsense Preston! Every year ye survive on the high seas is worht celebratin" he has his mouth full of cake already

My favorite tv show of the 21st century is the live action Ben10 movie where little text boxes pop up on the screen to explain every single inconsistency the movie has with the animated series.

A month later kids were acting up and I said, "That's it. I warned you. Now I'm gonna call the police." A completely different kid, who must have overheard the previous exchange, said, "The Police are coming? Are tickets still available?" Then I moved to West Philly and never made that joke again.

Similarly, if they were misbehaving in a playful, "kids will be kids" way then I would say, "That's it, I'm calling the police." One day this kid FREAKED OUT and was crying saying, "Are you really going to call the police or was that a joke because if so it's a very bad joke!"

4 years ago when I started working with kids again (in a predominantly white neighborhood) I had a zero tolerance for tattling. If someone came up to me all "Ben said I'm a poopyhead," then I would say, "Call the police."

I've bought the same pair of headphones 3 times in the past 3 years. The plastic construct is so cheap they snap if a feather touches them, but the audio quality is supreme.

I love how much worldbuilding you can pack into a single illustration. That green sword alone feels both random and intentional, important and meaningless, mystical and mundane.
