Evan Ware @warevolf.bsky.social · 25/09/2026All this, with the understanding that some pieces only use first order modulations, and it is not unknown for second order modulations to appear first. Just, on balance, this is the statistical norm found in Corelli’s Trio Sonata corpus. 010
Evan Ware @warevolf.bsky.social · 25/09/2026My thinking was to illustrate “first order modulations” which are the most common (and likely in part one of a binary form), in comparison with “second order modulations“ which are less common (and typically in part two of a binary form), and other modulations that really don’t show up very much. 110

Evan Ware @warevolf.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Grad school hammered into me that research was for winners, teaching was for pay, and service was for chumps. That’s completely wrong. The people you teach and serve will remember you for a long time, the people listening to your music will mostly remember you until the next track. #musochat 160
Evan Ware @warevolf.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Although I’ve had some wonderful experiences, I wouldn’t ever say that one of them justified all of the difficulties. Instead, it’s the smsll, seemingly insignificant daily acts of devotion to my art through creation, analysis, teaching, and service, that make it all worthwhile. #musochat 050

Evan Ware @warevolf.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Nobody, really. Becoming the things I am was never about emulating someone else’s path, but finding the one that was best for me. That being said, my Dean did talk me off a ledge about becoming department chair. Does that count? #musochat 140
Evan Ware @warevolf.bsky.social · 21/09/2026I started off wanting to be an orchestral trumpet player, but realized I hated practicing and loved composing, so I switched to my sophomore year of college.
