Walnut Hulls @walnuthulls.bsky.social · 28/08/2026Just got a reply-all email at work to an "unsubscribe me" sent to the entire group to say "how to unsubscribe" (CAPS were involved in both). I was going to send it to a colleague as a lighter-moment in our stress and realized he might be too young to have lived through listserv meltdowns. ifykyk 030

Walnut Hulls @walnuthulls.bsky.social · 13/06/2026Oh, thank you! I have not seen mine yet, but I will be sure to look this weekend. 100
Walnut Hulls @walnuthulls.bsky.social · 22/05/2026I should probably explain that a little. I want to read more, but it's not because Nancy Drew just looked over the windowsill into the empty mansion and saw ... Chapter break. Why yes, I did discuss this pattern with my daughter when she was little & I was reading chapter books to her. #JustOneMore 000
Walnut Hulls @walnuthulls.bsky.social · 22/05/2026A slightly different take on magic structures & culture that's intriguing, & leaves lots of room for additional stories (hint, hint). Characters feel grounded in their locations & situations. It stands as a complete story in itself. Don't think it's a spoiler to say it doesn't end on a cliff-hanger 110
Walnut Hulls @walnuthulls.bsky.social · 22/05/2026The problem with this book release is it's midweek. So I read late, then have to read at lunchtime, because I have to keep doing the money-work, so I can keep buying the books. #GoodProblems (I was going to say "QualityProblems" but I think that hashtag could be misconstrued). Strong recommend. 130
Walnut Hulls @walnuthulls.bsky.social · 22/05/2026I appreciate that you put up the preorders when you release books. I'm sure it's a pain but it helps me get my preorder in without forgetting about it. 010
Walnut Hulls @walnuthulls.bsky.social · 22/05/2026Thanks for the reminder to read this! I preordered and hadn't noticed it arrive. 021

His son did robotics competitions in high school, which inspired this little fella that breaks up hardened surfaces & levels grain to ensure it behaves like a liquid, avoids clumping. This probably saves 10-30 human lives a year. NO BOOTS IN THE GRAIN. 7546031603

Walnut Hulls @walnuthulls.bsky.social · 30/04/2026For those interested, my bees are in their hives. The weather has turned unsettled and we've had warm sunny days for them to go out and explore, but more cold and wet, especially in the evenings. So for now, I'm letting them do their bee things, & replenishing the feed as needed. Pics in the future. 040
Walnut Hulls @walnuthulls.bsky.social · 28/04/2026Yes! Weather has been flaky so I am mostly leaving them alone, but will share more pictures later this week. 110
Walnut Hulls @walnuthulls.bsky.social · 24/04/2026@shropsfidgetpie.bsky.social Thinking of you. Thought I'd share something a bit different. Here's one of my 2 brand new hives (well the bit up top was previously loved, but new to my bees and me). The grass is temporary keeping the entrance small while they orient. The jar is sugar water for food. 230

Walnut Hulls @walnuthulls.bsky.social · 11/04/2026Have been assembling and painting the hives for the bees. Took nearly 30 minutes to build the first one, but less than 20 for the second. Also I'd found the instructions by then. Today's task is prepping the site. #beekeeping 040

Walnut Hulls @walnuthulls.bsky.social · 10/04/2026Much to my relief, not only was the nest not increased, but all the building materials had been moved elsewhere, presumably to a quieter part of the neighborhood. "Too modern," said somebirdy, "I want something more rustic, with a bit of bark. None of this metal and glass" 110
Walnut Hulls @walnuthulls.bsky.social · 09/04/2026I was surprised to be honest. We go in and out that door multiple times a day. We'll see tonight if they've come back or decided on a different location. 110
Walnut Hulls @walnuthulls.bsky.social · 09/04/2026Stepped out my front door to check the weather this morning, and said an audible " uh-oh "at the sight of a long strand of dried grass dangling at eye level. Sure enough, it looks as though one of our neighbors is considering nesting on top of the light beside the door. 100

Walnut Hulls @walnuthulls.bsky.social · 03/04/2026Ohh, I think I used to know that, once upon a previous lifetime. Yes, yes, a fellow student did a paper on The Spider & The Fly and mentioned that. 020
Walnut Hulls @walnuthulls.bsky.social · 02/04/2026I don't read it particularly, but see people's posts to it regularly, noting "the pink one" from old institutional awareness. Walnut Hulls @walnuthulls.bsky.social · 01/04/2026Thank you. They said it went well in today's follow up visit, but of course that's what they said last time. At least this time we're a little more prepared (little things like having ready to heat food which can be made with one eye and limited depth perception). 110
Walnut Hulls @walnuthulls.bsky.social · 31/03/2026I was a very involved observer, asking questions & reminding everyone of status as they cycled through prep & post-op. Also reading my book rather than my phone in the downtime. The problem is I have *no* idea what Nurse Sarah looks like (weak memories for faces). We'll see how tomorrow goes! 3/3 110
Walnut Hulls @walnuthulls.bsky.social · 31/03/2026'Yes, I see, your wife. Your wife [WalnutHulls] Oh, I remember HER!' M burst out laughing. "You remember her but not me?!"
