Disappointing news from Barnes and Noble today. Look, I am for AI in most business scenarios, mostly in building software. Though AI should be heavily regulated, and pretty much banned or easily watermarked when it is used to produce art, music, and literature.

Most of the food off Amsterdam has been amazing. I used to dislike NYC. But I’ve now found love for the upper west side and Central Park area for all my future stays. Just an awesome melting pot of people and great architecture everywhere.

Yes, AI will replace some jobs. That’s reality. But here’s the question: who benefits from the productivity gains? If companies capture 100% of the upside while workers get pink slips, we’ve failed. The dividend should be a 4-day work week. Better balance. Healthier humans.

Companies promoting an “async culture” while using Slack are fighting an uphill battle. It takes huge team buy-in to update notification settings, plus constant reminders when users don’t follow policy. Tools shape employee habits more than most companies realize.

Tech layoffs blamed on AI are mostly just hangovers from bad bets and over-hiring. ‘We’re going all-in on AI’ sounds better to shareholders than ‘we hired too many people chasing zero-interest-rate dreams.’ Actually replacing workers with AI? Much harder than the press releases imply.
