The City of Spartanburg broke two barriers in 1982. James Talley became the first African American to win an at-large election. He would later become the first Black mayor. Ellen Hines Smith was elected as the first woman councilmember. The body today is majority women and POC.

I attended a local history presentation and panel on Hampton Heights, the oldest neighborhood in Spartanburg. These folks' love of their neighborhood is absolutely infectious. It is also noteworthy that by race, age, and national origin, it is the 'Burg's most diverse neighborhood.

In tonight’s republican primary debate for US Senate in SC, a question was asked regarding Trump’s support for data centers. In her answer, Darline Graham stated she agreed with the Trump. She ends her answer by stating that Democrats are the ones who do not want data centers due to noise.
