Congress wrote students into the law. The World Trade Center Health Program covers people who lived, worked, or went to school in the disaster area. The students of 2001 are grown now. Today's students deserve clear answers about their air, too. Link card: www.cdc.gov/wtc/laws.html

The 2003 review looked at what people were told about the air. A documentary in development from Wail of a Tale Productions starts one step earlier, with what people know to ask. The Air We Share asks what democracy owes the children breathing the air inside its public schools.

Ventilation failure does not bill you as ventilation failure. It bills you as sick leave, substitute coverage, and staff who leave early. Different budget, same building.

Do not ask whether the air is okay. Ask: How many air changes per hour in my child's classroom? What is the filter rating? Does this district operate to ASHRAE Standard 241? When was any of it last verified? Make 241 the standard.
