I think something that was helpful for me unpacking the general conservative mindset was learning that my dad categorically does not want to view any media where someone is in any serious peril, or where there might have to be any conflict that is uncomfortable or isn’t immediately resolved.

RUNNER UP FAVORITE: Godzilla Come on it's Godzilla. Unique among the rest of the films in this era and very likely still the best one. Probably timeless.

I like this characterization for Godzilla. He gives off the impression that he doesn't even really mean to terrorize humanity but he's at his most destructive here anyway. Also one of the few movies to really show the ground level effects of all the destruction. It's rare to see individual civilians dying from this point on especially from Godzilla's actions. The ending is really strong too but I'll probably get into that more when we talk about the winners of the best human cast.

FAVORITE MOVIE: Godzilla vs. Hedorah The closest there is to a film that actually matches the themes of the original but that is still about Godzilla fighting another giant monster. In a lot of ways this feels like a proper sequel to the OG. That one might still be better but this is one of a kind.

Plus the destruction and violence is about as brutal as it gets for this era. People get reduced to skeletons for pete's sake!! Hedorah is horrifying and cruel in the sense that I don't think a lot of the other monsters target civilians on purpose. It doesn't mean the collateral damage isn't scary either though. That scene where goji spins hedorah around and accidentally kills a room full of people across town and it cuts to all the dead bodies half submerged in sludge was spooky as fuck. I'm glad the kitty was okay though. You know I wonder if there was any deeper meaning to this movie. Probably not. Overall this one kind of felt like if Godzilla starred in an episode of Anthology of the Killer and that's kind of like the best thing ever.

I forgot that playing Deadlock is apologizing to everyone in your vicinity for 30 to 40 minutes while you get the feeling that everyone thinks you aren't apologizing hard enough, because sometimes they will also just tell you what a disappointment you are.

I actually wrote about it from the perspective of formalism back in 2020! I would argue that there’s MUCH more to learn in that direction than looking at the narrative alone. (Which is funny because got the idea from a piece about Metal Gear Solid from the lens of *Japanese* literary formalism…)

I’ve always wanted to write about Deltarune because there are so many cool things about it and its structure I don’t see pointed out often, but I’ve always felt like if I did it would have to be strictly in an academic sense because I don’t give off the right vibes to be taken seriously otherwise.

Toriel Undertale holding Midna Twilight Princess with a crown pageant winner's sash reading Queen of the Pervs. In hindsight Toriel probably did do damage to people who want a big goat to be your loving mom but Midna is 50 pounds of nothing but ass that spends half the game's runtime sitting on your back and calling you a good doggie so I think I get why the poll results here turned out like they did.

The consequences in allowing you to flirt with a 7 foot tall goat lady shaped like a fridge after calling her your mother were incredibly powerful for a specific kind of pervert. I think Toby admits this in the 10th anniversary stream actually.

[TF] I think her name is Bethany and she got her tech from the future. Or from aliens. Or from aliens from the future. Her size-changing tech is a little bit complicated to operate when you don't know what you're doing, but she'll get the hang of it eventually. Just gotta work out the kinks.
