Spider-Man Noir drawing

A black and white drawing of Spider-Man Noir from Marvel comics. He's seen turning around with a revolver in his hand. His trenchcoat is flowing off screen.

After Hayden Sherman on the cover of Absolute Wonder Woman #1

Love Hayden Sherman on Absolute Wonder Woman, so I decided to check out Batman: Dark Patterns. The art is indeed just as awesome. I wasn't huge on how he drew AbsBat in the AWW crossover issues but he nails prime Batman.

Cover art of Batman: Dark Patterns #7 showing Batman's silhouette standing among steel beams on a red background

Title page of the same comic, showing Gotham City on fire, reflecting in a window as a bandaged Bruce Wayne looks out of his mansion.

Carnage vs spider-man

A black and white drawing of the marvel characters carnage holding up a bleeding battered and bruised spider-man from just his head alone in one hand. Carnage has one hand formed into an axe and spider-man extends one hand out in a disparate bid to escape.

At least Man-Thing is visually distinct. I genuinely thought I was looking at Swamp Thing here. Of course, I was joking about DC suing -- I'm just baffled by the design choice. This character isn't even a swamp monster, they just happen to look like that for no good reason.

That is deadass just Swamp Thing in Spider-Man '94. What are they doing? Someone show this to DC so they can sue

Spider-Man charges toward a monster guy who looks suspiciously like DC's Swamp Thing. The monster says "You are not my enemy, Parker." In the next panel he swats Spidey away and says "But don't get in my way!"

I wanted to draw a bunch of my favorite manga characters to start the year <3 #AkaneBanashi #IchiTheWitch #Himaten #Frieren

Akane from Akane-banashi in a kimono with her hair tied up I chose a very simplistic style to mimic the manga to some extent but also to really bring out that classical vibe without going into more of an abstraction. Clear simple colors black for the hair with white highlights very classical but with the pink of her hair showing her ferocity.
Ichi from Ichi the Witch in a very experimental style for me color wise I really pushed a lot of thought behind how I wanted there to be contrast and how cool of a character he is. I wanted him to have some blood because he's such a ferocious character but it also made a real contrast with the green background and color palette that I kinda chose on a whim.
Himari from Hima-ten! man this is just kinda a neat one she's such a cool character and very relatable and bright and they don't emphasize that enough. She shines and it makes me think kinda like a fruit commercial she's pretty and wears an accessory in her hair that's a crown like a princess. I was working on this for a while and just had her hair done and then had the thought lets remove as much of the lining as possible and make it all about the shape the color and bring out the joy. She's such a joyous character and that made me want to draw her like that.
Frieren from Frieren the Slayer was an interesting choice here because I chose more of my render style its very nice overall I just wanted to bring some warmth especially to my soul with this one really putting in the effort into making her look pretty and draw the braids well. Will anyone read this doubtful but I wanted to make things that really had me thinking about the construction of the drawing as a whole.

It caught me off guard that the two Absolute Batman/WW crossover issues aren't parts of the same story since they're releasing about a month apart. I was expecting a cliffhanger, but the first issue wrapped up neatly and Diana left Gotham.

VWBeetle @vwbeetle.bsky.social · 29/12/2025

A little disappointed with the first Absolute Universe crossover between Batman and Wonder Woman. It wasn't bad, but felt weak. Glad it at least subverted some of the usual team-up tropes. Hopefully next month's is stronger.
