Love Hayden Sherman on Absolute Wonder Woman, so I decided to check out Batman: Dark Patterns. The art is indeed just as awesome. I wasn't huge on how he drew AbsBat in the AWW crossover issues but he nails prime Batman.

Three "kukeri": Bulgarian men who dress in elaborate costumes to scare off evil spirits. They are standing in a field, isolated, which gives the image a surreal quality. These particular costumes are made of animal furs in assorted colors. They appear reminiscent of chewbacca, except they don't have faces and their heads are strangely phallic. This gives them a very alien appearance, even compared to other kukeri costumes.

At first I thought it was cool that Marvel was willing to give the new Ultimate universe a definitive ending instead of milking it dry. But it turns out the writers didn't plan this and it was kinda just sprung on them, so we're probably going to get a bunch of chopped endings.

Marvel announced the shuttering of the Ultimate line initially at NYCC 2025’s retailer day, and then confirmed it three days later during its fan-facing Marvel Comics - Next Big Thing panel, where Marvel Comics publisher Dan Buckley shared Hickman’s initial reaction to finding out that the line would end with the final issue of Ultimate Endgame in April 2026.

“We were at one of those creative retreats and I was sitting next to him, we’re just talking, and he’s like, ‘Well, we’re finishing our stories, then you could do that.’ I said, ‘No, you’re done,’” Buckley remembered. “I was by myself with Jon, Jonathan’s looking at me, he goes, ‘What do you mean we’re done?’ I said, ‘We’re shutting it down.’ He goes, ‘Why are we shutting it down?’ I said, ‘It’s the end, right?’”

Man without ear. As if being blind wasn't enough.

Marvel Legends Daredevil, except there's an error where they forgot to apply the black paint that would usually represent the fabric covering his ear. Therefore it's all flesh tone plastic, which makes it look like there's just a mound of undefined flesh where his ear should be.

People clown on this head sculpt (and they're not entirely wrong for it), but it sure is a massive improvement over Hasbro's previous attempt at "McFarlane" Spider-Man. Imo one of the worst Spidey heads ever released.

It definitely wasn't a mistake, but the effect is subtle. Maybe not worth the effort, idk. It's a bit more noticeable in person.

Spider-Man's head on a pike. And by that, I mean a wooden dowel. And by that, I mean a chopstick. And by Spider-Man's head, I mean a Marvel Legend action figure of Spider-Man. The head has been turned matte while the eyes/lenses are still the original unfinished plastic, which has left them slightly more metallic.

Also you can see some other action figures in the background from the Marvel Select line, like Hulk, Beta Ray Bill, and another Spidey.

I had to do a second coat, but here's the re-assembled figure next to Venom from the same 2-pack so you can compare matte spray vs. raw plastic. It definitely looks leagues better for a character who is supposed to be wearing cloth. Btw I used Mr. Super Clear Matt if you want to pick up some.

MvC Captain America is my first test subject for Mr. Hobby matte spray since I only bought him because he was in a 2-pack with Venom. I forgot to take any before pics, but this figure was really glossy looking prior to being sprayed.
