This articulates something I often think about. Industrialised theft of underpaid creative work kills requisite passion. Swamping the zeitgeist with slop sucks, but my greater fear is it triggering a dark age of expression. We stand on the backs of giants and AI is slaughtering those giants.

Its not that I need help - It's that familiarity with saas products has become a sisyphean task. I've used the tools for decades. If that doesn't afford me the ability to use it efficiently, then the hurdles of switching to a new tool that doesn't do this becomes small enough to walk over.

The result is that it never runs low/out of battery so I don't worry about a stupid jingle playing. The DAP can just happily loop whatever forever from a microsd I had lying around.

FWIW, I sometimes find that when I cannot find a specific solution to my problem it can be because there's another solution that's ubiquitous. I have a speaker with line in. I ignore the battery and Bluetooth feature and run it wired for power and audio from a cheap DAP, for exactly this purpose.

Ole mate been pondering the orb since before you were born... oh and this is awesome too! Registration is required when you want to use multiple inks to make a composite image, but in this ad, they used the inks independently so it looks slick regardless of misalignment. from Westercon 41

Old conbooks are so cool! Something about fantastic proto-furry illustration, mono ink and that cheap textured paper stock you only see on old computer manuals. Look at these amazing artworks by Ken Macklin of Bubsy fame. Ebay listings cached on google. I wish we had digital archives of these.

#Aurawra had such a lovely theme this year. The Solarpunk ethos fits so well with this fandom and the staff, volunteers, presenters, guests and attendees embodied the hell out of it. The community feels more developed and rich every year and that makes me so happy.
