Good night my friends!🌌

And the hairstyles (for a few of the performers) were starting to morph a bit into early 80s hair 🤣. I never realized that it was released as a film until we purchased it.

We just rewatched during the summer. The 70s fashions lol! I identified so many outfits that my parents, aunts/uncles and schoolmates used to wear. Like a blast from the past. I don't think I watched it when I was a kid. My mother probably thought it was too scary. 🧛‍♂️

Absolutely heartbreaking and infuriating. To see this majestic and sacred tree destroyed makes me so sad and angry.

Blue sky, buildings and dome make an interesting combination in Hartford. Sorry about smudges on the window.

Looking over the rooftops of brick buildings toward a clear blue sky. Tall buildings sit off to the right in the distance. A gold dome is in the middle distance.

First time I've ever been able to get a hummingbird photo. She/he was resting after feeding on the nasturtium, marigolds and salvia. #hummingbird #birds

A hummingbird perched on a small fence with nasturtium underneath. The hummingbird is looking ahead.

We get a variety of woodpeckers coming to the yard. This is from last week though they are even around today during this bad weather. I think this one is a Downy. #birds

A small woodpecker clinging to a tube bird feeder. It is checkered black-and-white with a small red patch on the back of the head. It has a white underbelly.

It's been sort of lame here in central coastal CT. Lots of gusts. They say it's going to get worse this evening but I'm not convinced the weather folks are right.

Another sure sign of fall approaching. The back yard is filled with white wood aster. Over the years we've transplanted them and scattered dried seeds and they've spread covering a good part of the yard. Bees love them! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurybia...

Closeup of White Wood Aster. Flowers with slender white petals and yellow centers. The flower heads grow close together in bunches.

So many great flowers in our lawn replacement flower bed. Fall is definitely in the air here in Connecticut. Wishing everyone a great weekend.

A little bear carved from amber some 6,000+ years ago! 🐻❤️ A hole through the torso suggests it was worn or suspended from a cord. National Museum in Szczecin, Poland 📷 by me #Archaeology

My photo shows a small figurine of a bear carved and polished out of a piece of amber between 9600 and 4100 BC. The amber is a deep translucent orange in colour which is emphasised by the display lighting against a dark background which makes the amber glow. The bear's head is carved to show ears, mouth, nostrils and eyes. A hole runs through the bear's torso, suggesting it was threaded onto a cord. Dimensions:
Length 10.2 cm, Height 4.2cm

I took this photo today at the Landesmuseum Halle in Germany where the bear is currently on loan from Poland for the excellent Shamaness exhibition.

The figurine was discovered in Stupsk during peat mining in 1887. According to the National Museum in Szczecin "Shortly after its discovery, the figure underwent conservation work to restore its original appearance as it was covered with a layer of dull patina from the exposure to the minerals contained in the peat. Already at that time, at the end of the 19th century, it was assumed the restoration had gone too far. The figure was stripped entirely of patina, the anatomical features of the animal were emphasised, the eyes and nostrils were sharply drawn, and the amber was carefully polished".

In 2013, a competition was organised by the Education Department of the National Museum in Szczecin, for children to choose a name for the bear. The winning name was 'Stupcio', an affectionate diminutive meaning 'little guy from Stupsk'.
