I study algorithmic collusion. One difficulty is that if sellers' costs are not verifiable, then sellers can jointly pretend to have higher costs and the algorithmic prices will appear competitive for these costs. This is what just happened with the illegal Trump tariffs. Cf arxiv.org/abs/2501.09740
