Big thanks to @mekka.mekka-tech.com for spotlighting this article in his thread on what police actually do, and why the NYPD’s slapstick performance after the UHG CEO shooting was not at all surprising. We Minneapolitans have really got to get this evidence into the city’s political conversation.

Police are not primarily crime fighters, according to the data

A new report adds to a growing line of research showing that police departments don’t solve serious or violent crimes with any regularity, and in fact, spend very little time on crime control, in contrast to popular narratives.

Looks like you’re missing the wash station and the curing station. Also, resin is not a living space material without a good extractor fan.

So, at 4 in by 3 in, 116 sheets of 1-ply is 1392 sq in (0.898 m^2). A Charmin Mega roll is 288 sheets of 4x3 (iirc on the size) and 2-ply. 5472 sqin (3.53 m^2) of ply, a 4 times increase, so not the “5 times” claimed on the package. Though, if the sheets are different sizes, that can account for it.

Early U.S. Mars rover planning owed much to the Soviet Union's claims, after it lost the Moon race, that it would explore the Solar System using robotic rovers and sample returners. From my blog No Shortage of Dreams. 🛰️🔭🧪🚀🪐🌏 spaceflighthistory.blogspot.com/2015/12/the-...

Another #goodlunch 👍🏻🥡 of leftover green chili and bacon Mac and cheese but this time with a bowl of grapes along for the ride.

A rectangular leftover container mostly filled with green chilli Mac and cheese sits in an insulated fabric bowl (for ease of carrying due to the heat of the container from reheating). Next to the container of mac and cheese is a ramen bowl containing a large quantity (a bit less than a pound by weight) of red grapes still on the vine. Both the bowl of grapes and the container of mac and cheese sit on a striped placemat on a dark wooden dining table.

I’m all in on Reese’s Puffs and Malt-o-Meal S’mores in the bag (well, both in the bag). The former because it’s a decent corn ball combination of PB Cap’n Crunch and Cocoa Puffs flavors, and the second because it’s graham flats, marbits, and Cocoa Puffs.
