Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 30/09/2026In other news, I've started William Gibson's Neuromancer again & seem to be in the mood for reading rather than playing video games but I'm sure (sure...) I'll find the time for both. Really loving Neuromancer again, been years since I read it last. 010
Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 30/09/2026It has been 6 days since I played Control Resonant. I will update you as I go. At this rate, it's going to take all year. 120

Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 25/09/2026So. My PC has done this twice, mind you the first time was like 3 years ago I think. Basically it shits itself & when I reboot, I get the RAM warning light on the motherboard. I remove the RAM & plug it back in & hey presto it works. Any ideas why this would be happening? 100
Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 24/09/2026I will be breaking my year-long abstinence from video games to play Control Resonant. The first Control is one of my favourite games ever. 010

Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 23/09/2026In addition to game of the year Kentucky Route Zero, I'm adding Gone Home, Dear Esther, & What Remains of Edith Finch. There are so many more. 271
Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 19/09/2026I'm taking Splendor to my sister's tomorrow. That's how addicts are made. 000

Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 14/09/2026Don't ask me why I'm watching sort-of trash film but come-on we have to be able to do better than "she's smart, she's funny". We have heard those exact words in that exact order a bajillion times. 000
Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 11/09/2026I chalk up running Coloretto & the slightly more complex Pyramids at the library as a win. They're hungry for more in a hopefully escalating level of complexity. I mean, I don't mind at all if we just keep to easy games, I love them. But Coloretto is the start of the pipeline to Chicago Express. 010
Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Cross posting from the other channel. Picked up Splendor and the Silk Road expansion. OG insert doesn't fit expansions. Sure it's recyclable but still a waste in production. #boardgames 030
Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 05/09/2026I have purchased William Gibson's Sprawl trilogy. Again. Why another set? Because my first copies are in a box somewhere & I cannot be arsed trying to find them. $60 well spent. 100
Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 03/09/2026I'm not the biggest Splendor fan, it's not a bad game & I've won it a few times but just isn't my flavour... but I'd buy it if it went to 5 players. I fully understand tho, that the game is balanced for 4p only - number of chips, number & type of cards. Shame, I often run games for 5p. 000
Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Taught Quadropolis last night. It's in my top 10 because the Classic game is great for beginners, the more complicated Expert game is great for enthusiasts. But the Classic mode is also great for enthusiasts because of how it plays. It's just damn cool building your own little city. 020
Reposted by VroenisKareem the board game minimalist @gameminimalist.bsky.social · 17/08/2026I think unfortunately a lot of new board games - especially Euros - have taken a pretty simplistic approach of ‘more is more’. Where older euros were often more streamlined and simple, many modern euros have to hide their lack of elegance and innovation behind additional layers of mechanisms. 3141
Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 18/08/2026Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma again last night. I originally rated it an 8 but seriously considering bumping it up to a 9. It's just so good. 010
Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 15/08/2026Board games rules are a thing. I continue to think upon Race for the Galaxy & that I have never forgotten the rules after one reading & play session. 010
Reposted by VroenisStarfire’s Deranged Neocon Foreign Policy Podcast @irhottakes.bsky.social · 15/08/2026I find games which don't respect their own rules increasingly frustrating as I get older. Feels more and more like a bullshit trivia contest where you're rewarded for memorizing all the exceptions to the rules than mastery of the actual bones of the game, if that makes any sense. 71417
Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 15/08/2026I guess I should talk about board games, I've not really had the opportunity to because of Things but last Thursday I hosted Just One at the local library & we played for 2 hours. We added 3 more players with pen & paper & it was hilarious when we got catastrophic duplicate clues. 320

Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 07/08/2026Weather on Sunday is supposed to be shit so I might just play Howling Dogs again & start my next play of Kentucky Route Zero. I've been talking them up enough. 110
Reposted by VroenisKareem the board game minimalist @gameminimalist.bsky.social · 05/08/2026Board gaming is a luxury hobby in my view. Not because of the financial cost specifically but rather the time. We can afford the time to talk about, watch, listen, research, buy and hopefully, play board games. We even have the luxury of getting annoyed about board games. How lucky are we! 0222
Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 06/08/2026You can play Howling Dogs here for free & you should. Not sure it looks the best on mobile so I'd highly recommend playing it on a PC. As a Twine hypertext game, it will run on anything. xrafstar.monster/games/twine/...xrafstar.monsterhowling dogs 110

Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 02/08/2026All I'm saying is in 1984 William Gibson wrote Neuromancer which starts with a theft of RAM & I never thought it was prescient until now. 020
Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 28/07/2026Neuromancer series, Blade Runner series, Carrie series... I don't know. I hate over-serialisation. My fear is the producers will go IT'S POPULAR? BONANZA LET'S KEEP MAKING MORE & the show immediately turns to shit. 220
Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 28/07/2026Apple are making a Neuromancer show & it is either going to be really good or really *really* bad. 121
Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 14/07/2026I hate that we're still in a place where if you don't buy that board game you like now, it'll be gone forever I understand why & I don't know what the solution is. 121
Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 02/07/2026Really glad Hellas is getting a reprint, it's a fantastic game. I'm glad little companies are giving some classic games new life. Playte also published Kreta as Sardegna too which is great. 000
Vroenis @vroenis.bsky.social · 02/07/2026The government should pay for the manufacture & distribution of physical copies of Kentucky Route Zero on all platforms. 120
